OK. I admit that none of us like being on Prednisolone. But I have just discovered a unique advantage.

My parents tried to mould me into a well behaved and agreeable girl, I must avoid upsetting anyone and must always be accommodating. (I didn't always come up to their expectations) Nonetheless, some habits remained ingrained even at the age of 75. But along came Prenisolone. Gone was the smiling Stepford wife, enter the smiling unbridled independent bargain hunter.

For someone who couldn't bear to take a faulty object back to the shop or return a bad cup of coffee back to the counter, you should see me now!

My optician offered a discount, I went back later and negotiated a bigger discount at 30%.

We needed a new mattress and on asking, were offered a 20% discount. Returning after a few days I asked for a further discount. This time £130 was taken off the price of a £400 mattress.

Things didn't stop there, my local handyman offered a 15% discount on a kitchen repair. And so it went on: I queried my BUPA health care membership and was given 3 months membership for free!

Yes, I see myself rather like Wonder Woman - except I would look silly in the knickers. Pred Woman has arrived!

I still get snappy, so I make my "business deals" short and to the point. It's when my voice gets raised that I know I'm in trouble!!

So true l am far less tolerant since being on pred,have not managed it to my advantage yet though,just seem to upset people instead ,still they deserved it !!

Yes, it certainly does. Being nice all the time is not only impossible but creates terrible conflict. I used to have a friend who couldn't say no. Live was extremely complicated for her!

I think that after and during the war. parents had enough to think about without worrying about long term effects of being compliant. But my mum hopped indoors fast enough when a stucker fighter plane aimed straight for her as she stood in the garden saying to the babe in her arms, "Look at the pretty plane." Yes, they had other ways of handling life's difficulties.

I'm not really a rebel. I'm under the influence of prednisolone. At least that's what I will tell the judge when my case comes to court!

I think it great that Pred empowers, for me I have been more relaxed, (might just be aging) I am aware that there is a risk of depression with Pred, but I have to say it made me feel more sunny. I can't imagine how I would manage the down sides if I didn't feel that way.

Yes, I've been blessed with not having depressive symptoms with pred. But I think my need to bargain comes from totally not being worried about anything. I just seem to go ahead and do it. It also explains many of the silly purchases I've made over the last couple of years!

I have found pred changes my level of patience with my students. I REALLY have to watch myself all the time, put on a smile and deal with misbehavior while trying not to let it get to me. I get upset more easily. As for bargaining? I am so glad you have that new found strength. It's fun to strike a good deal, so good for you! Let's find more upsides.

Yes, I think that communicating with people when you can hear your voice getting louder is really difficult: you just can't walk away from a class and wait for the calm to come back. You have my sympathy.
