Have had the same, three times now. A tiny burst blood vessel. The blood will be absorbed, but, might be wise to pop in to be checked by you ophthalmologist. Take care.

I had a very itchy eye last year, gave in and rubbed it hard, next day I had a black eye. Skin thin and sensitive on Pred ! ( shame it’s not Halloween ) 🙈

The same thing happened to me last year although mine was even better! Lots of red, great for Halloween. Goodness knows why it happened but it went away again in around two weeks.

I scratched my arm test. Made it bleed. That’s prednisone.

With everything you have going on I'd get it checked out for peace of mind if nothing else. You have been in the wars of late; poor you. Hugs on way xxx

Yes, get it checked. It’s probably a burst blood vessel but anything to do with eyes needs checking.

I know you're under the care of a Rheumy, but I've asked this before, have you had a c-ANCA test and checked for Vasculitis? Looks like scleritis. Many people on the Wegeners Facebook page post similar pictures of their eyes.

aao.org/eye-health/diseases... "In almost half of all cases, scleritis is associated with an underlying autoimmune disorder such as rheumatoid arthritis."

Thanks!

I'm sorry, I did not respond, originally... I remember going back and looking at all my blood tests, to see if I was tested, but didn't find anything that looked related, to c-ANCA.

It’s probably nothing to worry about, I was always getting it on Pred it’s normally just the tiny capillaries bursting, and should resolve itself with a few days or up to a week.

In fact I had similar a couple of weeks ago and it lasted about 3 days.Looks worse than it is usually, but if you are worried then get it checked - for your own peace of mind.

Similar to the marks you get on your arms etc, just a bit more scary looking!

It looks alarming but is generally harmless. It may itch a bit as it heals and dry eye drops would be good. We still think you are lovely! Xx

Oh sweetheart I’m sorry for you. It prolly looks worse than it is but how horrible darling. Does it hurt? Please let us know how you get on at doc. Love and hugs precious Melissa xxxx

I've been getting these burst blood vessels for years. My eye doctor suggested using artificial tears and these do in fact help the redness to go away much faster.

I hope it clears soon mamici xxx.

Another 'assault' on you Melissa - but at least most likely temporary as others have said - I recall my Mum having these several times and she had GCA but never was prescribed Prednisone .... Hope it evaporates soon as your repertoire is 'big' enough !!!!

XXXXX

I get burst blood vessels in my eyes all the time. Last up to a week.

Melissa, I suffer with dry eyes and have drops for it. I rub my eyes a lot when they are dry and have ended up with red eye!I hope this clears up soon. Like others have said, it looks worse than it is. Might be wise just to get it checked though.👍👍👍

I bet you’re a bit cheesed off with yet another thing! Looks like though it could just be a burst blood vessel but as others have said get it checked out if you’re concerned. Things are going to get better Melissa!!

I had that once too from running my eye. Looked quite frightful. It is indeed one thing after another and those of us on here get it. I am at 7.5 and some of these add-ons have started to die down. Finally. Wishing you well dear Melissa ❤️

Just another one of those manifestations of our advancing age?

I've had this happen a couple of times. I always have the local eye doctor take a peek just in case there's something really wrong, but it's usually just a burst capillary and actually a perfectly normal occurrence.

Looks worse than it probably is but I would get it checked if only to eliminate infection. Just another thing to keep us on our toes. xxxx

PS: Had my cataract done yesterday - I can see fantastic - while waiting I decided I wasn't going to have the other done as felt too stressed - once I saw the good results I cannot wait to get the other one done. x

I had the same problem on and off for over at least a year, looked good for Halloween no makeup for me! I went to the opticians/gp on numerous occasions and was always told that it was the pred causing it. The problem resolved itself but I do appreciate how unnerving it is to look in the mirror. I am sure it will resolve itself as mine did.

in reply to ipsidipsy

thanks! It's been a few days and it's getting better... yellow & purple, but better!!!!
