Has anyone tried this to treat steroid tapering side effects?

I have read it is anti inflammatory.

Did not seem to make much difference for me, but I did use the Apple cider vinegar to make some apple chutney recently. Perhaps that will help!

I have tried it, not for tapering, but to help with the powerful appetite for carbs. It helps a lot for that.

How much did you take? I’m good all day but give in to cereal at night as a snack!

I take 1 tsp in water or juice with a little maple syrup, usually once a day.

I have it on my salad every day for the taste, haven’t noticed any difference when I don’t have it eg when on holiday.

I have taken it for years, long before PMR, so can’t say whether it has helped or not. Also use it in salad dressings and recipes. You need to be careful of the acidity. Take it in a glass of water, plus I always rinse my mouth afterwards to protect the tooth enamel. 🙂

I was taking it while I'm on pred to reduce blood sugar levels at night but have been diagnosed with osteopenia due to pred and believe the ACV isn't great for building new bone and can lead to bone thinning in some cases, so have stopped unfortunately.

~I use it to rinse my bought veggies in as supposed to remove pesticides.

I do know my sensitive tum does not like it as a drink - will be the acid content I suspect ~

Good luck.

I have ACV several times a week as soon as I wake up instead of tea or coffee, 2 tablespoons of ACV and 1 tablespoon honey with warm water. I find it soothing, apple cider vinegar has an alkalizing effect. Though acidic, ACV promotes an alkaline environment inside your body which is essential for good liver and gut health. Google it as there is a lot of information available on the benefits of ACV. I can’t say if it has any direct effect on pred side effects but I have tapered from 30 to 10 mg/day since October with no side effects apart from night tingles in my fingers but this seems to be subsiding as I taper.

I used to have it regularly each morning, warm water and honey, took it for maybe a year it so. Then diagnosed with PMR, so the inflammation still took over. Last January I had my gall bladder removed, chronic inflammation there apparently, so maybe in my case the ACV wasn't helpful to combat the inflammation, or maybe I needed to take more of it? Who knows.
