Pred and Diabetes

Diagnosed October 2018. Just tapering to 10mg at the moment. Very stiff knee, blurred vision and very fatigued. Waking every 2 hours to go to the loo. Think I should get sugar levels checked?

Are you thirsty and drinking more? If so, probably good idea to check sugars.

Don't feel particularly thirsty, but won't harm to have sugars tested. Disturbed sleep does not help!

No it doesn’t. But best to get checked anyway.

It is suggested that you get a glucose test such as HbA1c every year if you have PMR and are taking steroids.

Yes I had that test done in the beginning, and now I get monthly blood work for glucose levels, CRP, and ESR. I see my GP once every three months to get weighed, blood pressure checked and discuss progress.

I too have ongoing "disturbed" sleep as I take my pred dose at 2am, and from there get up every 2-3 hours to urinate. It is worth it though, as I have no pain and very little stiffness when I rise for the day.

Have you had a knee xray or MRI to check for organic issues outside of PMR/GCA? You should follow up with your blurred vision, and fatigue seems to part and parcel of what we experience with PMR/GCA. You were diagnosed recently and down to 10mg, what dose did you start at? It may be that your last drop was too much, hence your stiff knee and fatigue.
