Hi is there anyone else who is taking pred and having a sore stomach when eating and feeling bloated after a small meal.

I had the camera down there and he thinks it's caused by the pred. Since the camera though it's got worst now I have to go back for another inspection. On Co codemol all the time. Doctor dosent knowwhat's the problem hence why iam going back for further inspection.

Greetings Snookerball

Yes, I get this too - quite uncomfortable. I'm not a medic, but assuming there's nothing else 'unusual' going on in the gastric system, it could well be down to the Preds. Quite a few people here report similar things - and I seem to remember that it's one of many possible side effects of Pred as listed on the packet. Possibly investigate slow release (enteric coated) Pred, and / or changes to diet and / or the timing of your Pred dosage to compensate?

That said, I'm sure the forum Aunties and others will be along soon with their opinions.. ;-)

If he doesn't know he should keep looking until he makes sure it is nothing nasty and that is what he is doing.

Co codemol is probably your culprit. It plays havoc with your digestion and causes alternating constipation and diarrhoea and headaches into the bargain. Prednisalone can make you feel like you’ve got a stomach full of broken glass with certain hard to digest meals as well. I am very cautious about the meals I choose now. Change your painkiller and see how you are in a couple of weeks. Avoid very fibrous, carbohydrate heavy foods.

I agree with Sheffieldjane, cocodemol is probably the culprit,l have never taken it,l,was also warned by a pharmacist that they can become addictive.

I had this problem often in the early days of pred. Based on my doctor's recommendation, I split my dose into mornings and evenings. I took pred around 6:30AM with a full breakfast, and took the other half in the evening about an hour after dinner. (Dinner for us ends around 9:30, so I took my pred at 10:30.) Usually with some berries and yogurt as dessert.

If I had acid indegestion, I ate yogurt or ice cream. That usually did the trick for calming things down.

I also modified my diet. I don't drink coffee anymore, nor Coke (both dearly beloved).

And I've discovered that having an international palate, but an Anglo-Saxon digestive system, is totally incompatible with medications. I do quite well now with naked salad, fruit, meat and potatoes with some green veggies. Fresh plain food from good ingredients is actually quite delicious.

I hope it's nothing but the medications. If that turns out to be true, the above may help you.

Gastropareses can also cause this. It happens when food stays in your stomach longer than normal. I have that and control it with diet. Gastroenterologist made sure I saw a dietician. I also take Pantoprazole every morning because I have had an ulcer. These are more of the Joys of being 72 I guess. 😊

My pain was a 10, before I took a Pantoprasole. No pain med would help, after I was on 1mg prednisone was no need to take it. Stomach ulcer could be one of the side effect of prednison. I would advise to go for it.

Hope you feel better soon.
