I am moving

Wow! They kept me on pins n needles, then call at 5 pm Friday and tell me I get the apt. But the catch is they need me to move in on Monday. Yep 3 days notice. So, I have to pay the next months rent here and then there. It is all good and I will be n before the first snow.

I will not have internet for awhile so won’t be answering messages.

It is so funny or at least I am. I had no intention of moving where I am going and from the start thought finding a place without a waiting list was phenomenal but the Good Lord directed me to it. Yet, the last week of 4 I started to wonder if God really did this and Walla just when I was giving up.

This small town has everything I need including doctors etc but mostly I will be 1/2 mile from the river and a creek runs right alongside my new place. I took back my fishing stuff from my son so you will find me there.

Ok I will come back once I get internet. Mine here will be gone by the 7th. So ta ta talk at you all later.

What a whirlwind the last few months have been for you. I remember your excitement with your new flat, worries about wild fires and your sons illness. Your new home sounds exciting as well.

I hope all goes well for you and your son and you settle in well., and get back to us when you can.

Keep taking the tablets, you probably need them!

My son will be leaving California soon and will end up much closer to my new place. I am surprisingly calm but give me a few days. Been getting quotes from movers gonna let them do it this time.

Don’t forget that very important part of the move - REST! All the best.

Funny how I am doing this. I empty cupboard onto table then sit n play hearts or come here to reply. Life is good whe you are not rushed. Bids have been going slow but on guy was over $5,000. I am not moving that far. I hope they stay under $2,000. I had that stashed with my son for a rainy day and this looks like it.😃

$5000 - that’s ridiculous!

Depends on how long it will take - and if it is a single dedicated load just going one way or whether they can find a return job.

in reply to PMRpro

I lucked out they had a job 60 miles to the east and so I have movers. It was $1700 to rent a uhaul n do it all yourself or $1564. And three guys show up an in 1/2 hr we hit the road. I don’t have that much so was surprised they were willing to do it. If I go over 2000 lbs then it is 48 cents per lb. that is the only thing they will charge more. So it is all good ..

I could probably buy a small holiday flat with the money we have spent on moving (18 times in the last 46 years).😏

I am still in shock on how it felt such a long month but now how fast it is going. Good Lord knows way better than me. I had not planned on my son getting hurt so now he is better and I am off to fishing.🦋

Thanks I am looking forward to it. Going from 70,000 or so to a town of 1700 it will be different for sure. 🦋

All the best - but it is a good way to move! No weeks of planning and panicking! Have you lived in a rural area before?

in reply to PMRpro

Yes I have it is totally different than big city. Everyone knows everyone so I will have to be on my best behavior. And yes I will easily be done with packing as I started a month ago. Now just have to find drivers that want to move me that far. So far I have one bid and all others say it is too far. It will all work out. Funny but hiring a truck n doing it myself is more expensive. 🦋

Have you tried Starving Student movers? They are in a lot if places in CA. I lived in both Northern and Southern CA. I'm curious about where you will be, but that may be private. Will you still be in CA? I have seen your comments about dieting and am on a plateau myself. Wondering what next was impressed with your success and efficiency with menus. Best wishes. JoA

in reply to Joaclp

I am moving to John Day Oregon. 10 plus hours from my California apt. I have still kept off the original 12 lbs but with my son ill ate what was before me. Now with this move it will be TV dinners n sandwiches. I will focus once I get settled. As for the plateau get some salads in a bag and eat three huge bowls a week. You will break thru.😜

Hey, if you're going to have to pay the rent on both places for a month, what's the rush?

You take possession of the new place in 3 days, but you don't have to LIVE there in 3 days. You don;t have to completely desert the old place till the end of the month, right?

You can take your time packing up and tidying the old, then take your time setting up the new.

Yeah I plan to go around the tenth. I will have everything packed. But if I need more time I will have it I guess that is why I am so calm as there is no hurry. 🦋

Pleased to hear it's all coming together finally, exciting times ahead - just remember to pace yourself so you can enjoy the fruits of your labour!

in reply to Telian

I am doing really well at pacing myself. I had stressful few hours of getting lease signed and settling on movers and now I am sitting in my recliner with my cat on my lap. Oh it is so funny she doesn’t care for all this stuff lying around. Maybe why she is spending more time on my lap.🙀

Enjoy! Well deserved cuddle time...the cat doesn't care as long as you're there!

in reply to Telian

Well I am not sure about my cat. She was screaming at me at 5:30 this morning. Then an hour later than an hour later. I gave up and got up. She is going around rubbing her scent on each new filled box. I love her but she was a brat this morning.🙀

Telian in reply to

She’ll be wondering what’s happening but agree she was being a brat, sleep’s hard enough for us at the best of times!

in reply to Telian

Normally she goes outside on enclosed porch for sun time today she is still out there. Heheheh too much mess for her.😜

Hi Lin

Have only just caught up on your news, all busy here with new Granddaughter & settling into our new home. This past few days I’ve been busy trying to organise moving items to France! We’re having new sofas etc then as James was dropping us at the airport he mentioned he’d like our furniture, they are having a Gite built so the furniture will be very helpful & it’s all in good condition.

I’m glad to hear your son is improving, it’s been quite a year for you.

Wishing you 🍀 All The Best in Your New Home 🏠

Angela xx
