Hello, what sort of problems do you mean? If you mean difficulty hitting the spot without poking your eye, you can buy eye drop applicators from pharmacies.

That may be coincidence - speak to your doctor. Topical products wouldn't normally cause gastrointestinal problems.

Although - have you just had one eye done? The imbalance between done and not done eyes can cause nausea and dizziness until your brain adjusts.

Hi shella. Not sure if you mean problems with eye drops or eyes. My hubby used the eye drops but noticed his sight was better immediately after op than two weeks after. On scheduled check up at Specsavers they thought lense was in wrong place, and referred hubby back to opthalmist as urgent. Turns out he had macular edema. They treated it via meds and all's well that ends well.

If you have an optician in UK I am sure they would give you an urgent appointment, possibly free of charge on NHS due to medical grounds. They did so with me when I thought I might have GCA even though I don't normally qualify.

If however I am on the wrong track and you didn't have a problem with the eye or sight, please ignore this response.

Sounds familiar! I got gut problems until I finished the chloramphenicol drops both times. Also the dizziness with the first eye, not with the second though. In the heatwave the maxidex drops evaporated, for a day or two nowhere in the house was below 25c and the packet said don't refrigerate.

Oh dear .....weather cooler now!

Comes of having very sensitive gut I think .... it does say on the packet can cause dizziness and nausea have been living on Gaviscon too! Seems a little easier now down to less drops. Had both eyes done .... obviously brain hasn’t caught up. Surgeon said hadn’t heard of anyone else having all these problems ...but can’t take antibiotics either. Had first eye done 5 weeks ago and second eye two weeks ago. How long did it take for eyes to settle?

I had the first done last December and the second 5 weeks ago. The first took about 3 months to get used to and the second seems to be fine. This may be because I chose to have a distance lens for the first having been slightly short sighted, for the second I had the original short sighted one, so the change was only in that I was without the blur. This sounds a bit odd but I find that I can do most daily things without glasses now and only need readers for small print. The effects of the first operation were quite alarming, nice GP assured me that it was just getting used to the new eye and she was right!

I had contact lenses like that for years, one distance, one near - no need for specs for most things but had top-up ones for driving just to be sure though officially my vision was good enough to drive. Oh to go back! No sign of cataracts though...

Dear shella,

I developed Cataracts, as a result of all my Medication, many years ago now. The Surgery was, as I recall, quite painless. The Drops, a little Uncomfortable, perhaps difficult to administer yourself but, generally speaking, 'Not Bad' overall. What Problems are you Getting? Maybe we can advise you. If it IS a Medical Problem, actual Irritation, bleeding or pain, then DO see your Doctors/Consultants straight away! My main 'Problem', was with that Silly Eye Patch Thing, that you had to wear every night. (That and not being able to 'Rub' it)

I hope that everything does 'Sort Out', for you shella.
