I was naive enough to think that as soon as the summer came I would be relatively pain free - what a fool! Things are worse!
In winter we suffer because of the cold weather, so it’s obvious in the warm weather we would be much better, isn’t it?
It’s going to be 35C here today - for a born “Northerner” - North East Coast UK, that is unbeliebable. How do our Australian friends deal with these type of temperatures?
I don’t sweat much, perhaps that’s why the pain goes inwards instead if outwards!😏😂
This weather is hardly typical for us though. My family live in Australia and I believe that their blood thins to accommodate the heat. They have become very “ nesh” and wrap up for days of 16 degrees which I find quite funny. Sheffield strips down for the same temperature. Keep well hydrated and invest in a fan.
hee hee! Tried that (fan) too late! By the time we got round to it they were all gone!!
I agree about the temperatures how do they stick it?
With me it's not the pain but the fatigue. I am drained and feel physically ill during our normal summers. This year, with the heat and the PMR deathly fatigue every day. There is so much I want, no need, to do in the house and garden and I can't even get started.
I'm inside, curtains closed, fan on. Not much fun.
Perhaps it's the Viking blood!
As SJ says it's not our typical weather so we are not used to it. I couldn't get cool under the fan last night so just take it easy and wait..... No 2 son lives in Oz and they are in their winter, during the day they still reach 25 degrees but much cooler all other times. When we skype they are all in their fleeces, they very much feel the cold. When we go, in their summer, we need the air con on all the time, if we're watching TV my DIL has a quilt over her as she freezes!!
I had a blood test this morning at 8.10 and scooted round the supermarket back home for 8.45 ( school hols helped too) - best time if you can do it while it's hot - so rest of today free now, usually go around lunch time when OH napping!
25 degs, marvellous, but in the height of summer, anything above that is a no no for me.
Height of summer temperatures are too much for us in Oz, always in the 30s, they live on the Sunshine Coast! As we've said they adjust...
People do adapt to heat but also adapt their houses, air conditioning and ceiling fans, bug screens on all windows and doors. My daughter lived on the Gold Coast and on her hall table were car keys, hat, sun cream and bottle of water so she couldn’t forget the essentials. When she moved to Melbourne she was wrapped in a fleece because it was freezing cold only 19C 😂

I lived in Durham for nearly 10 years. We still have a house in Pity Me.
I remember you saying. We lived there too for a while, beautiful city. Never heard of Pity Me. What an odd name for a village! Must look it up.
There are a lot of villages in Co Durham with very strange names - like No Place, Villa Real, Bearpark and so on. A lot seem to be corruptions of names with French ancestry - Bearpark was derived from Beaurepaire, the retreat of the monks and priest at Durham. Pity Me was very likely Petit Mere.
Is it on the coast?
No - none of those are by the sea, all within a few miles of Durham itself. Pity Me is the top end of Durham, on the way to Chester-le-Street.

What IS ‘old’ now? It used to be 65, then it was upped to 70, now I believe they say you are old when you are 73!

My parents came from Co. Durham, I have been researching the family history, which is fascinating, I had a DNA test came out as 79% Anglo Saxon, the rest all Northern countries. So come from a cold climate.
I have subscriptions to two sites, but too lethargic these last few weeks so money going to waste. Like now, lying on the bed, cool in here, too tired to sit in an armchair.
I grew up in the North East. A little mining village near Bishop Auckland. Great childhood memories of family camping holidays at Crimdon Dene, where even in the summer you wore a cardigan on top of your swimsuit…………… I thought everyone did that ………until we moved south and experienced warmer climes. Some family still in the north east and I’m seeing pictures via Facebook of my niece and her children at the beach at Redcar………… wait for it………… without cardigans!!
Small world! I know Crimdon Dene (there were lots of ‘deans’ near us). Seaton Carew, Hart were our nearest beaches.
Yes been there too. Round tin chalets we stayed in where you could hear the rain thundering on the roof. Love that the area has finally had some money spent to encourage tourism. The beaches and country parks are just lovely and lots of industrial heritage from the shipbuilding and mining times too. Wish I had the stamina to get up north this summer as there is a wonderful exhibition around Newcastle running throughout the summer.

The heat is killing me and I have air conditioning. I have it set at72 degrees and one day I couldn't even feel the coolness. The sweat just kept dripping. I felt better in the winter.
Be glad to see fall, except for all the spiders that come out then ugh.

oI’m one of the very lucky ones that don’t sweat much. I didn’t even have hot flushes during the ‘change’.
Luckily, here in Germany we don’t suffer too badly with spiders. Usually quite harmless.
I am in Aust. Been on 5 mg pred for nearly 12 months. That dose is what I am happy with longterm. I sweat in ny head neck and hair profusely at times but since changing to taking ored late at night I dont notice it. The weather...it is going to be 45 deg cel here today. We have had 2 weeks of high 30s temps. My pain has returned with a jolt..could it be the heat ???
