Thirty. Good number, right? ...damn, I remember "being" 30! How can that be more than 30 years ago? Great age though. We were, "Old enough to know better; young enough to learn." Now... numbers (and age) take on a whole different significance... but it's all good. We cool.

It has taken me 226 days to go from 80mg of Prednisolone to 30mg; however, in the big scheme of things (and compared to others) that's not so terrible. So today, I embrace 30. I celebrate it! I own it! I got this!

Thanks Footfairy-1, I'll do two weeks at 30mg, before going to 27.5 for another 2 weeks. This is NOT my rheumy's plan... she said 5 mg's every 30 days, but hey, Po-ta-to... Po-tat-o! : )

Just to say GUESS WHAT !!?? I have just had to join you in the spectacular 30's Club !! My first real flare has now meant a substantial taper UP to get my inflammation down - yes disappointing as I had been as low as 12 at one point. Actually I didn't taper VERY fast - I even had several weeks just sitting on 15mg - but regardless here I am so now we can both hopefully 'descend' together and if not in 'exact' step compare notes at least. You seemed so very brave and determined at those higher doses so I am taking you as my role model - and if we can't be '20' years old again (mind you I'm not quite sure I'd want to be - LOL) perhaps we can be one day at least 'BE' ON 20 !!

Yes, lets descend together! I just got to 30 so I will be here for 30 days. What is your taper down plan? (Don't tell my Rheumy, but I am sneakily dropping by 2.5 every 15 days... I end up in the same place, it's just not a drop of 5mg all at once; it's 2.5 twice a month!) I have such a hard time with withdrawals symptoms....

Anyway, WELCOME to THIRTY! Happy to have you!!!!!! ...even though I know you'd rather be elsewhere! xxxx

Thanks Melissa - I am truly if a little reluctantly 'honoured' to be included on your fascinating 30's list.

I was primarily worried that I would get the 'racy' feelings I used to have at these 'higher' doses but so far feel fine - I think I have been encouraged by your 'enthusiastic' (under the circumstances that is) and positive attitude. After all as much as we like to denigrate Pred I remind myself it is 'saving' us from possibly much worse 'stuff' !! Not sure how long I will stay 'up' here as I'm responding to symptoms - or hopefully lack of them to make my next move as my inflammation markers have never been very indicative from the beginning and even now with 'new' temple pain and headaches they are pretty 'normal' .

At least we will have some parity for a while and wouldn't it be great (I say 'wishfully') if we could 'exterminate' this whole GCA thing around about the same time ....
