So here I am still waiting for the lp test. Headache getting much stronger put me on depacote pill for the headache. The neurologist and the hospitalist they think I have a pinched nerve in my neck. Need to see neurosurgeon as outpatient. Still going for the lumber tap. This afternoon. Once that comes back normal I will be discharged according to hospitalist.

Has anyone explained why they have swerved GCA as a diagnosis? You had a good initial response to Prednisone, didn’t you? Inflammation doesn’t always show in our bloods unfortunately.

Good luck with your spinal tap, be brave, oh surely to goodness they will be able to diagnose you! Yours is not the first story we have heard like this. It’s as if the first senior doctor to give an opinion is hardly ever contradicted and we end up getting nowhere. Sending good healing wishes to you.

I hate to say this with all that I have been thru. They cancelled my lumber puncture today. Because the nurse gave me aspirin. Which was a no no. I waited all day and when they took me down. They said since they gave u aspirin I can’t have the test. I was livid. I CANT BELIEVE THIS HAPPENING TO ME. IM SO UPSET 😭 my head is now on the verge of banging it against the wall. So not right. Not fair at all to me. I did put in a complaint. Will follow thru once I’m out of here. CAN YOU GUYS BELIEVE IT. IM SOO 😡 😡😡😡😡😡😭😭😭😭🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏pray for me.

I would have been furious. I suppose they were afraid of aspirin causing spinal hematoma . Why on earth did the nurse give you aspirin? Was she a junior?

Well who knew? Try to let yourself become calm. I can really understand that having psyched yourself up for a procedure and then to be told they can’t do it, would be so upsetting. I am such a coward I’d have probably thanked them. It will do you and your poor head no good to get in a state. The main thing you want is pain relief and a diagnosis. There is no guarantee that the procedure would help with either. Did the blasted aspirin help? It’s a much underestimated drug. I hope you sleep tonight ( I never do in hospital). Rest and breathe, Tomorrow is another day. X

I'd refuse to leave the premises until the effects of the aspirin have warn off and you can be first in line for the lumbar tap. I will pray for you and curse their careless stupidity for you too if you wish. I am in a "take no prisoners" mood the last few days. I'll weigh in a fight for any cause you wish.

Oh my goodness.... what else can go wrong? Unfortunate, but mistakes do happen. I'd like to think maybe there was some reason you weren't supposed to have the LP yesterday. (?) Who knows... try not to take these things so personally, as it just adds to your stress levels and perhaps makes headache worse... I know that is a lot easier said than done, and my words are trite, but .... it can't help getting upset and angry.

Words fail me. Sending you virtual hugs x

Well this must be so frustrating for you, but it seems like they are systematically ruling things out, one by one. I hope they get to the bottom of it soon and get you on some kind of treatment plan. We are there with you Hali12!

Oh Kali12, you would think if you were having a procedure, it would be written somewhere, in RED, not to give aspirin. Is this the only hospital you have? It doesn't seem to matter to the staff what a cancelled procedure means to the patient. Waiting game, seems endless for you.Trusting the right staff and right diagnosis come along SOON!!! xx

Unfortunately there are others. But this one is known to be the best. Unfortunately I worked here for 25 years as a MLT (medical lab technician)

YEAH HOW SAD IS THAT

in reply to Hali12

Disgraceful anyone treated like you have been. But even though it shouldn't happen I would hope that colleague and friends would give you more support. I am sending good thoughts. The good stuff will happen soon. Keep your spirits up.
