As I discovered from my participation on the Nice panel, this research takes some time - given that the recommendation for corticosteroid reduction is 12 months (which we all know is usually far too fast) - they then need a further twelve months to monitor thay any remission continues. So we are talking about two years from when the research starts to when it finishes. Add on the time developing, specifying and agreeing the research at one end and the time for evaluation at the other it would appear that we are talking about four years before the manufacturers are looking for usage approval. Hopefully for those of us with GCA now we will, on average, be in remission by then. Fingers crossed
