Boasting!

Just been shopping by myself for the first time in almost 3 years.

Celebrating with coffee and carb-free brownie.

Anyone else fancy boasting, we must recognise these 'small' successes.

Finding a carb free brownie was also an accomplishment that shouldn’t go unnoticed! 🎺

in reply to SnazzyD

Seriously!

OK I admit it LOW carb would be more accurate:-

Melt 100gms dark choc and 4tbsp coconut oil in bowl.

Wizz up 3tbsp flax seed add boiling water to allow to make suspension and leave until goes gloopy (you'll know when you see it )

Add 6 dates and wizz again.

Add to bowl and add 100gms ground almonds, pinch salt and 1/2tsp baking powder.

Line tray and bake about 20 mins at 180C

This is all very approximate I'm afraid Im not very accurate with these things.

LET IT COOL!

Beware is very crumbly.

Can substitute 3 eggs for flax seed and water but I find this is drier and we all love a sticky brownie!

Good because flax seed blows me up like a blimp!

And one that interests me FAR more than shopping...

Me too but plant shopping is different . Waitrose deliver so that's one job made easier. I really hate clothes shopping but I can patch, and as I'm not going anywhere.....

Yep. In Mallorca after cancelling all holidays last year. didn't feel I could cope. Been here 5 days and quite a bit of walking apart from slight back ache I am surprising myself. On 6.5 mg. Well done you on the shopping.

in reply to Chrissy1953

Enjoy Mallorca!!!! Hmmmm, I'm feeling a bit overcome by a slight green hue?

in reply to Chrissy1953

Nooooooooooooo, not a CRUISE!!!!

Well... come to think of it, I'm just being greedy!

I just had London... okay it was a cool and rainy London, but it was London nonetheless!

Feeling less green and feeling thankful!

Love a tour around London. Be a bit busy on Saturday though :)

in reply to Chrissy1953

We were there Friday through Sunday.. it was lovely actually. A bit busy on Saturday, but we went to a matinee from 2-5 so missed most of the craziness!

We were so lucky for our one full day in London. Rain was predicted. Then possibility of rain, then showers and in the end it was a perfectly lovely day!

in reply to Chrissy1953

Enjoy The Cruise 🚢

Hi,

Well done!

Mine’s an old boast - but still relevant, and inspiring I hope. Four years into GCA, on 7mg Pred flew to New Zealand on my own to visit daughter and her family. Felt really chuffed with myself when I got back home!

So good, I did it again this past winter, but now off the Pred, and a seasoned long-haul traveller!

Hopefully this will spur you on to more successes - of whatever size!

I can't aspire to that yet. Next goal to visit my son and grandchildren in Wiltshire. Just a bit nearer.

Forgot to ask - where in Wiltshire?

scats profile image
scats in reply to DorsetLady

Warminster

DorsetLady profile image
DorsetLadyPMRGCAuk volunteer in reply to scats

Know it, but not as well as some other places. I worked for MOD (and hubby was in Forces) so know lots of Wiltshire!

scats profile image
scats in reply to DorsetLady

Such a small world, my husband used to work for the MOD in Bath.

DorsetLady profile image
DorsetLadyPMRGCAuk volunteer in reply to scats

Been to Bath many a time - usually on courses!

The sweet pea seeds I got for my birthday from sister to remember my mum are now sprouting (mums fave). My first planting in years. I potted them and put trellis up a couple of weeks ago AND remembered to water. Noticed 2 days ago they are sprouting. It's a long way from growing my own veg as I used to do but it's going in the win column. 😁🌻

My fab week continues. My daughter is getting ready to move into her own flat. She has autism (high functioning) and so I am sorting all the admin plus. I have been frustrated, stressed snd knackered. Moving countless boxes up a flight of stairs. Running round trying to find a gas metre across thick mud.....twice! Rearranging essential delivery dates due to road block paving clashing with our original date! The only good thing is I am on hols this week, I have time! I altered the curtains today, and remembered how to use the sewing machine! I also walked the dogs twice and did Pilates. Yep. I'm boasting! Now with my feet up resting, ready for tomorrow's onslaught! Keep smiling everyone!

Good for you scats! Freedom at last and the start of many independent trips to come. Thanks for giving us hope that we too will be able do it.

I'd say, after three years, going shopping on your own for first time is a big success not a small one! One of my biggest frustrations in all this is my reliance on others to do things like lifting, digging, moving heavy plant pots, having to ask AND having to wait! So recognise the significance of your personal (huge) step towards regaining independence. Long may it continue. Thanks for posting.

scats profile image
scats in reply to Marilyn1959

My goodness that could be me speaking, the patience I have had to find! Perhaps that's another achievement .

just seen your recipe...

scats profile image
scats in reply to Telian

It's adapted from one in " The 8 week blood sugar diet" thenI saw someone on TV substituting ground flax seed and boiling water for egg and thought I'd try it. You may have to experiment to get the right proportions but I shall be making it again.
