NHS prepayment card

Hi all

I’m sure you’re aware you can get a prescription prepayment card at

£29.10 for 3 months - card payment

£104 for 12 months - card or Direct Debit (10-monthly instalments of £10.40)

but I only found this out a few months ago so thought I’d put it out there just in case anyone isn’t.

I have three items prescribed a month Pred, Adcal and Omeprazole (£24.00) so this more than pays for itself.

Link attached for further info....... every penny helps 😀😀

I make very good use of this service and save pounds. I am now being careful to maintain stock levels in anticipation of my free prescriptions when I hit 60 in June! One of the few advantages of ageing!

Hi Jenny,

Yes I was aware, had one whilst I was still working -long time ago!

Many of us on here are over retirement age so don’t pay prescription charges (in UK), but it’s a good reminder for those still under pension age- and that seems to be on the increase.

Thanks for info.

No prescription charges in Wales, but if you have to pay, this is a way to go.

Scotland too. Thank goodness - between myself and my husband it would be a hefty outlay. ! X

Thank you Jennyhampshire. You are one of our youngsters then. I can’t believe we still get free prescriptions at 60 🤫

You should have seen the expression on OH's face on his 60th birthday when we went to cash in a prescription for support stockings. FREE! He hadn't known - and I had managed to keep him out of the chemist the day before!

Good to be called a youngster although today I feel like a 90 year old! Spent last bank holiday weekend with my 80 year old mum and she was not only carrying my bags (we went shopping) but I had to keep reminding her to slow down!! 😫 also straight back to work on the Tuesday & Wednesday and still paying for it now 😥

Yes, excellent and easy to set up online. I got mine in before the price increase in April when prescription charges went up!
