CBD OIL for aches and pains

I thought I would try something besides Tylenol for my aches and pains. I am taking my prescriptions faithfully but it just doesn’t cut the neck and shoulder pain that i have on a daily basis. I chose to use a CCBD with 1:20 ratio. Th description as follows...

ACDC is a sativa-dominant phenotype of the high-CBD cannabis strain, Cannatonic. One remarkable characteristic of ACDC is its THC:CBD ratio of 1:20, meaning this strain induces little to no intoxicating effects. Tests have put ACDC’s CBD content as high as 19%, which helps many patients treat pain, anxiety, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and the negative effects of chemotherapy, all with a clear head.

I use about a rice grain sized bit of the oil that is in a small tube. I take it at 8pm each night. It has been one week. The first couple of uses I felt a slight effect from the thc but then the third day no difference and just a little better sleep and relief from some of my pain.

Good to hear. Thanks for letting us know about your success. I have tried CBD oil but didn’t notice much difference. Your success makes me want to try again.

That sounds really interesting. It’s what we often long for, sound sleep and relief from pain. Thanks for posting.

Hi northwesterner

I also started on CBD oil about 10 days ago. Whilst I have noticed a very slight difference in symptoms (aches/pains/fatigue etc etc...) I can happily say that I am sleeping 😴 loads better. This could be a coincidence as I reduced from 20mg to 15mg Prednisolone on the 3rd day of using the oil but I did sleep better on the first night of using it so I will definitely keep taking it.

If anyone is interested in trying it I purchased it online from iceheadshop.co.uk and bought the CBD VG 200mg E liquid (there’s loads to choose from) This one was about mid range in strength so you can get stronger or milder versions.

A recent radio programme from BBC radio 4 discussing medical use of CBD (also aging and immunity later in the programme)

By the way - the immunity section about the fu jab has a lovely explanation of how the immune system works - and maybe doesn't work so well!!!!

Yes, I liked that too, and also liked the idea of herd vaccination, get the grandkids (superspreaders) vaccinated rather than Grandma and Grandpa.

What do you think the ‘tested and very safe’ drug is that they give to dampen inflammation prior to vaccination?

(I’m not very onside with the ‘leaky gut’ theories)

No idea - yes I have ;-)

My little superspreaders are a bit old. And no, I DON'T want great-superspreaders for a LONG time yet...

I do find the leaky gut theories very interesting - the local coeliac specialist back in the NE was of the opinion that was where my wheat starch allergy originates. Which is closely allied to my PMR I suspect as they appeared about the same time.

Oh what is wrong with my brain???!!! Oh yes I have PMR and steroid dementia. I simply didn’t think to google that answer, despite wondering for a few days. Thanks for the link, Losmapimod, still not much wiser! Haha.

What brain?

Good question. Well posed.

I do not know the answer.

Hmmm... well after trying CBD oil a tiny bit each night at exactly 8pm I woke up with aches and pains from head to toe ( I wish I had run a marathon to warrant the pain). I also just reduced.5 yesterday too but I don’t think CBD helps much for the aches and pains. I do experience a more relaxed deep sleep so that is positive. I don’t feel any adverse effects from what I can tell.

Hi Northwesterner, I find the CBD oil has had zero impact on the pains in my shoulders, but it does make my hands soft. Diane

I tried taking CBD oil, 4% strength, 1 drop under the tongue 4 times a day. I did this for a few weeks and I wasn't sure if I felt better or not. Any way I stopped taking it, well I forgot to take it and then couldn't be bothered. Having had a bad period of aches and pains and bad sleep I thought I'd give it another go.mthis time I took it 4 times a day but with two drops each time. Well that was 3 days ago and I've just had the best 3 nights sleep I've had in a long time. Aches and pains seem a bit easier but it's subtle so difficult to really judge. I'm convinced enough though that when this bottle runs out I'll buy some more but at a higher strength.

The CBD oil I have been using is 19% strength so I have only been using it at night. It still appears to help with a nice calm sleep but I don’t notice anything different with my aches and pains.

Well after being faithful about taking a small amount of 19% strength CBD oil each night.... I still have not gotten any relief from pain. I do sleep restfully though. I might increase the dose and see if that makes a difference. Mt infrared heat massager helps with my aching neck and shoulders more than anything.

Increased the CBD oil to about four times the amount I had tried because I was having a flare and really did not want to increase my prednisone but to no avail. CBD oil doesn’t help with my aches and pains at all and the larger amount of CBD oil made it harder for me to sleep. So I am officially giving up on the CBD oil for me. I will be increasing my pred a little and using my infrared massager on my neck and shoulders instead.

How long have you used it?

I've been using CBD for 12 days....not needed any extra analgesia in that time.

I have found a group on Facebook with lots of info. Have learnt how to take CBD oil and how much to take to be effective.

"not needed any extra analgesia in that time"

Which does suggest it might be non-PMR pain it is helping?

IdasMum profile image
IdasMum in reply to PMRpro

Yes....it's the reason I am using it....I know it can't touch the PMR pain.

Nevertheless - brilliant!!!!!!

I find the CBD is good, not for pain, but for reducing some of the anxiety & insomnia associated with prednisone
