Just checking in 🤗

Hi all, just a little update from me. Currently almost on 8mg from 15mg (since July)thanks to tortoise not hare method and doing ok I think. Had a few bad days and yesterday morning was really really tired and heavy.

I started couch to 5k on treadmill at gym last week!! Fed up of this extra stone I’m carrying and my jeans being too tight. So Mon, Weds and Fri is the plan. I’m very excited at the thought of jogging on the roads again hopefully 🤞 but really had to drag myself for the first one..half afraid if I’m honest. Bought new runners to help with the motivation and haven’t taken the labels off...just in case it doesn’t work out 🙈

Also decided enough of just eating anything I fancy too, so cutting back on sugar big time and gluten.

That’s all 😘 hope you are all mending well and keeping well. So thankful to have this little place to come and talk about stuff and know it’s all understood. Much love and gratitude xxx

Get into exercise gradually. I went from 20 mins, to 30 now after7 months I’m up to 45 mins. to an hour of Zumba or a combination Zumba and weights, 5 days a week and walking in NYC on weekends about 3 miles not all at once. When I was on the couch every afternoon, PMRpro encouraged a short walk after rest period which really helped. I went from 3 pound weights to 5. Now blood work was ESR 8 CRP 3.4. My Rheum knows one word, taper! Trying 12 on Sunday (started at 25) with DL’s plan abbreviated to 3 weeks!

Now get moving and report progress!

Will do. Starting 12 tomorrow. Split the dose. Doing DL’s method starting at Week 3.

How do you feel? Are you tapering or coasting?

Forgot to tell you. I got a personal trainer who is over 60 and really gets PMR. No cost because it’s part of the wellness program at the YMCA. AARP pays for half of the monthly dues which is $22 per month for me! Bargains are my area of expertise! We also have group ons in US. I get Physical Therapy. I ask for the head person to specialize in balance, heat treatments for PMR. I fell a few weeks ago and luckily knew to fall sideways. Bruised rib healed in a few weeks. Purple bruise down my leg was not pretty. Statistics show if you fall once there’s a greater chance of falling again.

All we can do is try our best given our new normal.

Only if the weight gain is due to fluid retention - won't make fat melt away...

Wow seems you are doing so well! I love the updates when things go well for members. It’s a reminder that things do get better! I am now down to 4 mgs and am trying to loose weight. But just back from a weekend away so not doing too well with the weight! Although I have been signed up for an exercise referral scheme by my GP so will give that a whirl x
