Serrapeptase and curcumin

Does anybody have information about Serrapeptase which has been recommended to me to reduce PMR inflammation? Does it work? Is it safe to take with prednisolone (currently on 8mg) and other meds? Also curcumin.

I found this but no idea about reliability of the source. However, it said not to be taken with blood thinners like aspirin, Warfarin etc. Although Pred isn’t like those,it does make you be prone to bruising/bleeding and one should not take aspirin with Pred, logic says to me that it probably isn’t a good idea.

My doctor put me on aspirin and I'm on pred should I mention this to him when I next visit? I am going to ask for antrypylene to give it a try to help the bathroom visits! I am on the downward from 40mg now on 25mg pred but inflammation has not gone down on my last blood test at all! So sending me for a scan next Sunday I'm just a bit worried as it has to be full bladder and I'm concerned about how to manage this any ideas??

Hi Jamie, I think it would be a good idea to mention to your doctor that you are taking pred and so aspirin may not be a good idea. When I went for my scan I took a bottle of water in the car with me, someone else was driving, I found it quite hard drinking a litre of water all at once.

This is a question that comes up every so often - and I think the conclusion in the past is that the only people to benefit from serrapeptase would be the sellers! To save me writing the essay:

Celtic uses turmeric in cooking and always swore by it. Using it as supplements is disputed - it can upset your stomach.

I think serrapeptase has been extremely well marketed. I believe it is some sort of silkworm extract. If you want to take circumin use the fresh or powdered forms and cook with it or make tea with it, do not bother with the tablet supplements.

i'm sorry but you can't take fresh or powdered curcumin. Curcumin is in Turmeric. For anti inflammatory benefits turmeric needs to be taken with Peperine (black pepper) otherwise it has very little bio availability

Hi maman, why on earth can’t you take fresh or powdered circumin/turmeric? Millions of people have taken it for thousands of years with great effect. I was only listening to the radio today when someone was saying how beneficial powdered turmeric had been to her.
