Hi is there anyone out there having problem with eye sight while takeing steroids
I have had usual eye test and new glasses and the day they came it was fine now all blurry and unable to read things on telly and blurry on trying to read book has anyone any ideas

Has anyone ever assessed you for Sjorgrens syndrome? It's an auto immune disease as well which can cause dry eyes and mouth amongst other symptoms.
Sometimes it can cause blurry vision as the tear film isn't good enough to moisturise the eyes properly.

My eyes have been tricky since Pred. The focus is different every day so my usual glasses prescription is usually not quite right. I get my eye pressures checked every three months and my optition checks the blood vessels and optic disk too. Says this is par for the course with Pred. I do get dry eyes and use ‘false tears’ when they get very scratchy which can occur in seconds from ok to not ok. Haven’t decided yet whether to worry about Sjorgrens or not yet but I do notice it is worse at specific times like being in our living room and sitting in my car but not my husband’s. To me this suggests allergy and I’m reassured that I was ok before Pred. However it may be worth it for both of us to raise the questions Sjorgrens with a doc.
The pred caused blurred vision for me which was exacerbated by high blood sugar. I ended up at walk in thinking GCA but was ok. I have decided to put off buying new glasses until pred lowers significantly (10mg @ mo) .
I still have blurry vision if I have carbs and blood sugar spikes. I Just wait for it to clear.
Same issue, new glasses and now blurry vision (part of time). Optometrist suggested using moisturizing eye drops...really help.
Are your blood sugar levels ok? That can be another Pred related cause of blurred vision.
The steroids are definitely causing blurred vision for me. It's worse some days than others. Although the doctors don't seem to recognise it as a side-effect of steroids, my optician said it's well known to him and so there's currently no point in altering my glasses prescription. Sometimes I can even see clearer without my glasses at the moment, which is very weird.
Yes the same here sometimes it’s ok in fact like you said better than before strange I’m looking at telly now with no problem don’t understand it
Now to try to sort hearing out can it all be these steroids or perhaps morphine also doesn’t help I don’t know 🤷♀️
Me too 're tv. That 1 to 2 m distance is clearer than ever..reading and driving require my glasses.
Have you also been checked for dry eye syndrome? It isn't uncommon with PMR or pred - and it can make looking at things for any length of time difficult.
I have a few pairs of older specs - and they wander up and down my nose!
So glad to see this. left eye goes blurry sometimes. Was totally not going to think about it and now I don't need to! (unless it gets way worse) and interesting with the sugar etc. because it seems to have started when I stopped being diligent re sugar. will try some moisture drops.
I also suggest you also get your eye pressures checked. Increased pressure will not only affect your focal length but can cause optic nerve damage if uncontrolled. Been discussed before here.
I’m having problem too gets at its worst at night. Then can’t read a news paper. 😬😳
