Just three sleeps now till our PMRGCAuk Rheuma Research Roadshow arrives in Newcastle, in partnership with PMR GCA UK NE Support. The event is at the Centre for Life, Times Square, from 11 am and there are still free places available.
If you are in the region, why not come along? You could do some Christmas shopping too!
Looking forward to it and the free tea/coffee, biscuits and a catch-up with friends.
Contributions from patients, friends and carers is so essential to assist in the way forward that the medics, researchers et al are involved in. If we don't make the effort to contribute, then we are not helping to forward research into cause and cure. Team work pays off............
So, if you can make it, you will find a welcome waiting for you as you enter the door.
The North East Roadshow took place on the 18th and it was so informative, lively and well worth the time taken to participate.
The roadshow was just like sitting in your front room, with a group of friends and exchanging experiences, asking questions and the time flew. In fact, we ran out of time and people really did not want it to end. That group of friends I mentioned, where Consultants and Researchers.
Computer Science students, trainee physio's and pharmacists were also in the audience, they had given up their free time to learn about PMR & GCA and the effects on patients.
Volunteers gave up their time to be receptionists and also welcomed people as they came through the door.
Patient participation is essential, we need to help those who are working hard to help us.
I urge every person with PMR and/or GCA that if they get the chance of going to a future Roadshow, they take that opportunity with both hands. It is free and there is also free tea, coffee and biscuits. We could not ask for more.
Thank you to Kate Gilbert for travelling the country running the Roadshows. Thank you also owed to the Wellcome Trust who provided the funding.
