Stiff sensation in jaws

Hi again lovely wise people 😇 I've been having this feeling of stiffness in my jaws last couple of days. Kind of at the back teeth area and into jaw. It's not sore just stiff. Is this anything to be concerned about? Thanks x

Hi,

it could be all sorts of things, stress maybe if you are clenching your jaw and not realising it. Do you have difficulty in chewing or swallowing? Might be worth seeing dentist, if you can get in to see one!

Thanks Dorsetlady no problem swallowing or chewing at all. Saw dentist last week, it's only last few days it's feeling like this. As long as it's not connected to GCA. That's what I was a bit worried about. 🙏

Doesn't sound like it, but it's always wise to get things checked. It sounds more tension -as I suggested. But obviously if it gets any worse, or you get any other head problems you need to see GP.

A visit to GP is necessary in my opinion you need to find out why it is 'stiff'.

Hi,

I have GCA since January this year and stiffness in both of my jaws is one of my symptoms. Even now there is not single day I do not feel the constriction because of it. And some days are worse, some are better.

Thanks Akino that's interesting, mine seems to come and go. No headaches or eye problems though, good bit more pain in shoulders/back past couple of days too. Oh the joys!!

All sounds as if it stems from back muscles being far too tight. A good therapeutic massage might be the thing - or Bowen therapy helped me a lot.
