Well I got my flu shot and had a reaction first time ever was in bed for 4 days, fever, chills, nausea, pounding headache and body aches. Dr said its because my immune system is way down. Be careful when getting your shots.

Where did he learn his medicine? The flu SHOT is killed vaccine and CANNOT cause an infection. If your immune system is way down it would merely not respond and form antibodies. If you have a reaction like that it is much more likely you were hatching it anyway - coincidence...

If you get the flu shot that is not as strong,it's better. There are 2 types.

Think you were unlucky. I had Flu shots all through my years with GCA/Pred - and before and since - no problem.

Yes I have been getting them for 20 years no problems but bam this time it was with gusto!

Hi, got my flu shot last week. No negative effects...

sorry to hear you are having issues, sounds like you picked up a cold about the same time you got your injection.

I had no ill effects at all, from the flu shot in fact during my second year of grandson care I didn't even get all the colds. Not really aware of a compromised immune system. Touch wood!

I know you don't want to hear this, but I'm going to tell you anyway.

If you contracted the flu, it wasn't from the flu shot. You can't get that sick from a dead virus. You might get a very low fever and some body aches for 24 hours, because your immune system is responding to the stimulus of the foreign body in your system, but but you won't get really sick.

And if you really did get the flu, you'd feel so much worse than you do now, and for much longer. When healthy people get the flu, they can be dragging around for weeks afterward.

Rest. Liquids. Hot showers. A bunch of old movies. And when all else fails, a few hefty shots of brandy or whiskey (unless you're not allowed).

You might not really feel any better, but you won't care!

Do you know if you got the one with the live virus or the other one that doesn't have the live virus in it?

The live version is only available as nasal spray so I doubt anyone would refer to a flu shot. The killed vaccine is always administered i.m (intramuscularly).

It was probably a cold. The flu lasts about 10 days without complications. If you go in for bronchitis or pneumonia, it's going to be a lot longer.
