Shoulder pain

I keep reading that PMR is bilateral. My shoulder pain is bilateral but always greater on right than left. I am right handed, always reaching, stretching and using right arm and hardly ever use my left. Can over use of the one side cause this, everything else is consistent with PMR.

Hi,

Maybe, or could be arthritis, or rotator cuff injury, or frozen shoulder ...! My left shoulder was always worse than my right which is what sent my GP careering off in the wrong direction before my correct diagnosis.

Might be idea to see a physio or Bowen therapist (if there one in your area).

Worth getting it checked for other things.

Mine has always been left shoulder dominant which actually delayed the diagnosis

Likewise my left shoulder and arm is always more uncomfortable.

Same here Barbthy - PMR nearly three years now. Pain always worse on the right side - shoulder, hips, calves.

I am right handed but my left shoulder displays more pain then my right. It is very strange but one thing for sure its consistent ):

Unfortunately our bodies aren't symmetrical- one side always seems to be stronger than the other, or more prone to injuries etc.

We had this discussion many years ago when I used to go to Yoga classes, the exercises, stretches etc are always easier on one side than the other.

Think subconsciously whether we are right handed or left handed, we use the same arm, for example, to reach for things, or when standing lean more on the prominent leg, or walking always best the best foot forward!

Ce la vie 😊

Add in, for good measure, that myofascial pain syndrome often joins in the game and it can affect one side more than the other.

Started in left shoulder. Now shoulder blade on right.
