Hi. Does anyone know if there is a Support Group in Yorkshire? Asking for a lovely lady in Leeds who is newly diagnosed with PMR and needs support.

Hi SusyTe,

So far as I am aware not in Yorkshire the nearest to Leeds would be North East or Peterborough. Try clicking on PMRGCAuk for more info on this. Best wishes to your friend.

Thanks, CT. I had a quick look on there but couldn't see anything near Leeds so was hoping someone on here might have an informal one going.

Thank you - I think those locations are a bit far for her.

I believe that there is a group in Ilkley That Primrose is involved in. Hope she spots this, I don't know any details. Best wishes to your friend. This is a very supportive forum if she'd like to join she will be made to feel welcome.

Thanks, Jane - fingers crossed that Primrose picks this up. I have told my friend about this forum and will encourage her again to join. I know her from a PMR group on FB. She is feeling very low, bless her, and feels she would like to talk face to face with others who have PMR and understand.

Here is Primrose2's post about our next informal meet-up in Ilkley. The venue is less than 10 minutes walk from the station, or if your friend drives, it's on one side of the main car park in the very centre of Ilkley.

You don't have to be a member - just come, but if she can reply to Primrose2 for numbers, that will help. If you or your friend would like to send me a private message with her name, we will look out for her - I keep a list of email addresses to send folk a reminder, as back-up to looking out for the posts on here.

We are a new group, having met only twice so far. We'll tell the centre staff to direct new people to where we are, as last time some folk were wrongly told the meeting had been cancelled - that applied to another meeting at the centre that day! Anyone reading this who was turned away last time, please be assured the meet-up will not be cancelled.

We have surplus small knitted and crocheted flowers from PMRGCA week in June, so we'll try to remember to wear them as identification!

Ha ha, Tracy - me neither. Welcome to this wonderful community! There are some great people on here with an incredible wealth of knowledge about PMR and GCA. Can we get Christine over here, do you think? I am worried about her. X

On both these websites there are details of informal groups and formal support groups.

PMRGCAUK

PMRGCAuk North East Support

These both provide links that you can use.

Hope she can make it to North West.

How far does she live from Middlesbrough? Some people in North Yorkshire can make it, depends on transport links.

Thanks, jinasc. I am not sure exactly where she lives - all I know is Leeds. Hopefully she will be able to make it to Ilkley. X
