Today I am mostly ignoring my sore froat

I have done my other Bird Box in the style of Flicky Brush. I then decided to "Pimp my Ride" and made my dole poles sparkly.

If I ever go out they will be the envy of all who see them.

My throat isn't getting any better. How long if it's a virus does it take to go away. Just because I don't have a temperature it could still be bacterial? I didn't think I could add any more discomfort to my day but I seem to have excelled here.

Got to stay positive. My PMR seems to be happy at the moment so not all bad then?

Can't beat a bit of sparkle! Your birds must think they're going to a disco in your garden - love it!

That's one jazzy bird box!

Viruses tend to take 7-10 days with some sort of improvement occurring from 5, on the whole. Usually you get some sort of snottynose/cough with viral at first. Bacterial infections can slip in through the back door with viral infections too. Bacterial throats often come with fevers (might be suppressed by Pred) that keep returning instead of tailing off over the week or two and you can also get horrible bad breath with bacterial throats. White spots on tonsils can mean bacterial but not always. Could be fungal also. If you are not improving or are getting worse after a week then it is worth getting it looked at, especially with immunosuppression.

Hi SnazzyD

This was most useful and encouraging. I suspect it is only viral. I don't feel ill like I would with any other infection. The only positive is I can't eat which is a bonus towards my weight loss goal. I am impatient really only been 5 days. Ta

It's encouraging that you don't feel ill. Bear in mind your normal response will be suppressed so be watchful, especially with Methotrexate as well. Have you had a full blood count done within the last four weeks? Sometimes a sore throat is the only early sign that the white cells are going down.

I had one 5 weeks ago so I will request another this week always good to keep on top of it. My Thyroid was hypo too so I can check it at the same time. I have recently read that for 1 in 6 with PMR ESR & CRP tests aren't always good indicators of inflammation. Anyway mine was 60 when diagnosed and 6 at the last one so I have a bench mark.

What a happy occupation Estellemac! I love it when I'm in a creative mood, it is just the best! I love your bird house!

I wake up with a sore throat sometimes and I think it is a dry, mouth, drug,,side effect doing it. I now keep a dry mouth spray next to the bed and have a squirt whenever I wake up. If you are poorly it's the usual paracetamol and plenty of fluids. Probably a week in duration. If it drags on, see your doctor as you have a suppressed immune system.

Calling the Dr again today I did see someone Saturday but there's been no improvement since then. The best thing is I can't eat so I feel quite thin!!
