My husband of 30yrs didn't really think that For Richer or Poorer and in Sickness and In Health would be an issue when we got married. The roles are reversed now where he has become the carer in this partnership. He doesn't see it that way. He says to be a carer you really have to care and I just want you fit to get back out earning. Oh how we laugh at that joke. He can say anything as I can't chase him to exact revenge. I now call him Parker as he sees to all my daily needs and he calls me M'Lady. As we go in Thunderbird 1 to Lidl I have to use FaceTime to help him navigate around the shop and not be rude to others in there. He is still in training but I am hoping I will be fit for his graduation from butler college. I lucky to have someone to help me through this not everyone does. 🚀☕️🍛👨✈️🤣

This made me laugh!!' Good job we have mobile phones now - when my husband goes into supermarket I'm on constant call:- what size was it? What does it look like? where can he find it?which aisle is it in? I wonder if he's ever looked in our cupboards at home!! But he does a great job- all part of the training - for me and him:- me letting go and him helping in areas he didn't think he'd be needed in . All part of the journey. X
Mine empties the dishwasher of a morning while making the tea. The crockery has its particular place - not because I'm OCD but because that's where it fits best and how to get most in. But he seems incapable of loading it - I can only assume it is short term memory deficits...
But let him go shopping for anything for me? Never in a million years! I nearly starved when I was ill!
Parker cooks and washes up then balances all the pans and bowls back in the cupboard in an amazingly dangerous way. As you say it's not OCD every thing has a place so it all fits back where it came from. Today's fun activity was the fridge. Wiping up a spillage resulted in all the shelves being took out and cleaned then put back to front so as they don't lock in. After he left for work I put it all back again to avoid the next incident when it all falls out on the kitchen floor. I will mark his course work down for that one. Health and Safety module.
Got to say Parkers Health Farm works. No junk food, snacks, or useful items bought. Lost quite a bit of weight. Starving whilst inactive is a bit disturbing but the end result is worth it.
Mine can't cope with salads and such stuff (me food) but is pretty good at crisps, chocolate and biscuits (him food). And frozen chips (also him food needless to say).
Your post must be a tonic to all who read it, and for all the replies!

My old man has cancer so I have to play a balancing act between him not being over-aware of my GCA and me being aware of his needs... he tries and sometimes succeeds in discovering where the bits and pieces live in cupboards although his washing up leaves a lot to be desired.
New one today as my self imposed full blood count check up revealed possible over active thyroid... what an insult on top of the rest... hey ho, watch this space... but, on the other hand, dexa scan revealed no changes since GCA began 2 years ago...due to Adcal and yoghurt? My doctor complemented me on management of steroids (thank you, and you know who, for all the advice and support) and is in no hurry for me to aim for zero!!!

Yes I too have a wonderful patient caring husband. There's nothing he won't do to help me ..And being a Scot has a wonderful sense of humour too.
what would we do without them? Funny though it's the things they do wrong that make us laugh. Once my husband has driven somewhere once he has no problem doing so again - why then in any shop does he go to the wrong aisle and complain that they are always moving things!! [they have not moved said things for months] Love en all xx
Mine can get lost going into town... Can't read a map either!
This morning we went into our phone shop to reload the internet sticks - been going there for years. We turned away from the counter and he headed off left for the back of the shop. I turned right - up the stairs to the street...
My hubby has had to be supportive for 11 years now. I suffer from lower back pain as well as PMR. So as my physical activity has dropped he has had to take over so much of the responsibilities of the house. And he works so hard at our business that I often worry about his health. Of course he refuses to ever see a doctor so I have no idea how healthy he is. I have had to learn to be patient with him. Like the house cleaning. He believes that you only have to mop the floors twice a year. LOL Not really but not a whole lot more then that. He is just too cheap to let me hire someone to come in and clean.
But considering that I have had three ER visits in the last 6 months with two of them ending with me being admitted, he is doing a great job of supporting me.

Mopping the floor twice a year!! Your lucky. Parker thinks if you don't mop it at all you won't notice the muck eventually.
Man after my own heart! That's the principle I follow - works for me...
