Pins and needles in hand

For the last few days have been experiencing pins and needles in left hand. I have been tapering pred and down now to 10mg. Fortnight ago got blood test done results normal but doc( who was not my usual doc) wanted more blood tests so got more done last fri. Has anyone experienced this.

Which fingers are affected? If it is thumb to middle finger it could be carpal tunnel syndrome, if it is the ring finger and pinky it could be an ulnar nerve problem. Both happen in PMR.

Thank you.i am due to see doc on wed and will speak to him. So many other complications with this illness.

Thank you very much for your help, PMRpro. I've been getting a painful neck and shoulder for months. My pins and needles definitely point to the ulnar nerve. Will ask my physio best way to go. Doc has seemed unsure to say the least. Think he is a bit unsure of how to treat PMR any way but always listens and helps where he can. It's soooo... good to hear that my experiences are those of others on our site. I have little confidence in myself and sometimes think I am out on my own. My back is much better, (walking for months on an undiagnosed fractured sacrum. ) I will never walk in pain for that long again and just put it down to PMR. I also have two replacement hips so have been persuaded to take AA. specially after fracture. Haven't taken it before but when my bad back stopped me walking more than a few yards I got scared and agreed.

It is possible it is a back muscle problem that is trapping the nerve - perhaps a sports physio or massage therapist could help? That was what caused my brief ulnar nerve problems and how I sorted it.
