Tumeric and Aloe Vera Juice

Ive been told that tumeric helps along with aloe vera juice. Your thoughts on this would be welcome. Aloe vera juice I have taken for years and have found it good for digestion. But the tumeric capsules have not done anything. Maybe I should have some curries instead of the capsules.

Hi,

Think I read somewhere that turmeric used in cooking is more beneficial than taking supplements. May have been on an arthritis site.

Curries are always better than supplements in my mind! 🥘🍺

I tried the turmeric capsules for many months, and did not find they helped me at all either.

If it didn't work for you - it didn't work for you. Simple as that! Save your pennies - using it in cooking is far cheaper! Which probably improves the availability:

Do the capsules have piperine/black pepper in them?

I wouldn't try the capsules anyway (I can't, I'm on anticoagulant medication) but many people find the capsules too much for their gut. I'd use it in cooking - but OH would have a fit! And somehow, turmeric in spaghetti sauce or moussaka doesn't seem right...

Ginger is related and has proven, bioavailable, anti-inflammatory properties. And is much easier to get into the diet. A spice appropriate in many dishes, it also makes a lovely, warming tea, made with about a teaspoon of grated fresh ginger. I forgot to have my cup last night, and this morning I feel much stiffer than usual, so an inadvertent experiment....

The following website indicates that ginger tea may not have enough of the active ingredient to help, but I think even what I take has proven effective, at least for what I need. Of course I'm not replacing pred, just trying to minimize dose.

My first drink of the morning is often an inch of grated fresh ginger root, good squeeze lemon juice and a little honey in hot water. Really warming, specially on these cold, very early mornings and good for us.

I make lots of soups and use turmeric and other spices and herbs for flavouring. I've used it for donkey's years (not same packet I hasten to add) and understand it does have health benefits.

I have practically lived on lenthil dhal for the past six months in an effort to get turmeric or golden paste into me, and taken supplements as well, I can't say I am convinced sadly.

Thanks zebedee , never heard of golden paste. It seems pred is the best answer for us I guess. Hope springs eternal and all that jazz.
