We're delighted to announce that Louise Sorenson will be our speaker at the next meeting on 27th April. Louise will be speaking on current and future research into PMR and GCA, with a particular emphasis on dissemination (including her current pilot engagement work, mentioned below, which the charity has been promoting).
Louise is based at the Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Medicine at the University of Leeds and coordinates PMR and GCA research studies for Professor Ann Morgan and Dr Sarah Mackie. She is also currently running a pilot engagement project looking at how we can improve the dissemination of research. Louise is originally from Denmark but has lived in the UK for over 15 years. Before coming to Leeds, she obtained a PhD in linguistics and worked in arts and humanities research. She also has experience in clinical trials management for large pharmaceutical companies.
Louise's presentation will cover:
- an overview of current research, highlighting the dissemination project
- an outline of future research
- ending with a Q and A.
Below are the details of the meeting:
PMRGCAuk London Support Group meeting
When: 27 April 2015, 13:00 – 16:00
Where: Artizan Street Library
Ground Floor room
1 Artizan Street
London E1 7AF
Update on directions. Most of the works around the library area have now gone (so glad)! It’s still easiest to come out of Liverpool St Station onto Bishopsgate, cross the road and go down Devonshire Row, then across Devonshire Square, which briefly becomes Cutler St. At the junction turn briefly left onto Harrow Place (you’ll see the Travelodge hotel in front of you) and immediately right into Artizan Street. The library is just past the Petticoat Tower, on your left.

If you need parking, there are a few meter spaces (card or pay by phone) in Stoney Lane or Gravel Lane – best approach via Houndsditch.
Food & Drink: Hot drinks and a few nibbles will be made available. If you need ‘proper’ food, please bring it with you.
Cost: In order to finance the group, it would be great if those attending could make a minimum donation of £5 towards costs.
Thank you to everyone for all your support, and welcome to everyone new who has recently expressed interest in the group. Do let us know if you have any questions before the event.
Best Wishes
Anne/Sophy
