My pred increase has been successful. Both ESR and CRP are down by 12 points ESR 14 and CRP 13. Feeling optimistic, though still have backache.

Good luck with that from one Scotchlassie to another. I was out in the garden trying to control the jungle and the back didn't like it. I think Pilates is called for.

Surely the backache is nothing to do with the prednisolone, Annodomini? I have the same problem with the garden - five minutes of tidying up etc and I have to retreat to the deckchair to recover for ten minutes. But I have always had problems in the days when I could do a couple of hours of digging and then spend a week recovering!

Seriously, might it be worthshile asking for an x-ray. Just a thought.

It could be independent of PMR and/or pred. But it does date back to just before the time when the PMR was first diagnosed three years ago. May be a conicidence, but I will ask the GP to refer me to a physio.
