I posted on here several days ago regarding a new GP in my surgery who wouldn't prescribe me extra Pred for a flare of GCA/PMR, and said "I shouldn't be doseing myself". {Iv'e only been doing it now for 14 years!! } However I saw my Rheumy today, and he wasn't very impressed as I had just a few days of Pred left, which were my reserves.
The outcome was that I left with a bagful of Prednisolone and a letter will be sent to my surgery.

Result - and I hope you get an apology from your GP! I won't be holding my breath mind you! He may not wish to allow you to dose yourself - but his job is to monitor your progress, not restrict your medication.
Well done Bowler. I have always been left to Order my Prednisolone myself and never been rejected when asking for more . Yes the GP has always stated that they must get me down to a lower dose but my body always has other ideas. I cannot understand how that GP could let you have got so low on your preds .. Good on your Rheumatologist and I hope you get an apology .You have had more practice than me .I am coming up for 10 years with PMR and still learning about the condition especially through this Forum and Kate's e-book is wonderful. Its very informative . best wishes. trish29
