Is there any difference between uncoated and coated prednisolone?

We have heard from some patients that they have experience some stomach problems when swapping from coated Prednisolone to uncoated ones, even if their daily intake is being reduced under their GPS recommendation.

We would like to hear about your experience on this specific type of tablets.

with uncoated steroids I had bad tummy pain, found out later I had an ulcer. Coated ones do not affect me the same as long as I dont lie down when I have taken them. So yes for me, coated ones are best

Thank you!

There is a hugh difference. I had the coated tabs in the begining but my GP won't prescribe them now due to the extra cost, so now I take medication for my stomach which seems like a false economy to me!! Coated are best.

I have combined 2.5mg of pred with other doses of pred to reduce pred. The 2.5 worked just as well as the uncoated tabs. The 2.5mg were coated. They did their job just as well. My rheumy prescribed the coated pred. She knew what she was doing. To prescribe meds that can attack the stomach is unwise. Stomach ulcers are not a good result when pred is vital for those of us who have been on long term med. I also am given omeprazole toprotect my stomach. What is the special advice on which tabs to prescribe?
