Hope every one is keeping safe and sane in this crazy time. Just wondering if anybody has come across the new theory about ketosis helping with Pkd? Interesting reading!
Keto diet research : Hope every one is... - PKD Charity for A...
Hi Rick 234
Thanks for the reply. Ya its interesting reading alright. There doesn't seem to be many articles as of yet though. That's great news about your cyst growth. I'm wondering how low you go with your carbs and how do you balance it with protein? I see a colleague of mine doing keto daily. He swear by it but looks very challenging to me. Low carb/ intermittent fasting could be a better option. Waiting patiently for more research on this keto method!!
i just got my hands on an article by some researchers at ucsb, will post the feedback as soon as I’m done reading.
Sure, I never did keto really just low carb with daily 18 hours of fasting plus 24 hours once a week, I never realized it may have been the cause for the better evolution in that period. It’s always better not to be so radical who knows we don’t want tongo too deep into something that may be harmful!
You may wish to look at the link on the PKD Charitys website. It hosted a webinar with Dr. Thomas Weimbs, University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB). He and his research team have discovered that diets that induce ketosis in mouse, rat and cat models slowed or reversed the growth of polycystic kidneys.
Could this research be the key to slowing down the progression of PKD in humans?
