I've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and I am starting my first chemotherapy cycle on Weds 29th June. I am looking for anyone with a positive mindset to share my journey with. I don't know what to expect and would appreciate any thoughts or tips that may help. My chemotherapy treatment is 3 weekly cycles.

Hi Jude,

Welcome! I am new here too, but want to assure you that you`ve come to a great place. The women here are kind and supportive.

I have ovarian cancer, so my journey is perhaps a bit different than ypurs will be, but it certainly is not all bad; you are entering a whole world you never knew existed, and it is peopled with wonderful doctors, nurses, and fellow travelers. You will experience nothing in treatment that many others have not also dealt with and moved through.

You have found the right place for positive companions. You are not alone; bring your questions, fears, and triumphs here: they will be heard and answered.

Best thoughts as you become a part of this fine community.

Hi Jude Health Unlocked also have a Breast Cancer forum called The Haven, may be worth looking at that one as well, on my cancer journey I didn't have chemo but I wish you well with your treatment, as I do to everyone else starting their treatment in the near future xxxx

Welcome to our forum. Be strong and positive it will help you loads, keep a good sense of humour and remember although similar all our experiences are unique to us. Try not to be scared, I sat waiting for something to happen with my first chemotherapy but all that I had was a flushed face and red wee!

Accept help, share your fears then they don't become real, laugh and plan small treats.

We are all here for you, virtually wrapping our arms around you and we are all getting through it, even the bumpy bits.

Hang on in there, you are not alone.

Much love xxx

Hi,Sounds like my treatrent, I'm on my 3rd every 3 weeks.Just be really really selfish ,if you feel awful don't push yourself and have a takeaway menu on standby, nausea is my worst enemy but your body needs food for the fight.

Just a totally random comment_While watching Victoria Derbyshire today I thought-"is she wearing a Wig? "-Googled it and found out she has had breast cancer and made a diary about her experience, she said such a no nonsense strong woman isn't She?

and she's beaten cancer. It can happen to anyone.

Good luck with the chemotherapy, stay strong.😊.vicky.x

Thought I would share my positive story. I had Breast Cancer in 2010 and my treatment was surgery, chemotherapy & radiotherapy plus 10 years of hormone treatment. There were many ups & downs along the way but i am now healthy & fit. I recently completed a 65 mile charity cycle ride, a goal I set myself a year ago when I wasn't even a cyclist. It was the Woman V Cancer Ride the Night starting at 9pm from Windsor Racecourse, going through Central London & returning to Windsor.

Keep strong & positve and after treatment set yourself a goal. It took me a few years and there were some setbacks but I made it and firmly believe a goal to focus on certainly helps. Wishing you all the best with treatment & your recovery.

Hello Jude. Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis and I hope your first chemotherapy was not as frightening as you thought it would be. The good news is that you will meet somewonderful people throughout your experience and make some great new friends too. My top tip is keep your sense of humour, laugh at things, plan small treats and big ones for that matter and take control where you can.

I have a blog that you are welcome to read if it helps as I had chemotherapy, mastectomy and radiotherapy for breast cancer and now waiting on oophorectomy. Www.morethanacancercell.blogspot.co.UK

Lots of luck with your treatment xx
