I am recovering from major operation five weeks ago - had most of my colon removed. Was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Thankfully there is no sign of cancer,so no need for chemotherapy.
I am slowly getting stronger. Learning how my joined up bowels work (I do not have a bag)
What I can and cannot eat. I am managing to slowly introduce carrots,sweet potato, squash into my diet. I find the Imodium syrup very helpful.
I need to explore what other vitamins,food supplements I can safely eat.
I would love to hear from others who have had similar experience. Can I juice vegetable(removing fibre)

Sorry I don't have any advice for you, just wanted to wish you well with your quest to return to good health. Anything you do at The Penny Brohn cancer centre will definitely support you in both body and spirit! Will you be attending The Bristol Approach residential course at Penyy Brohn? If so, among other things you will get a whole hour with a Nutritionist who will most certainly advise you on an appropriate and varied diet for your condition. You have an hour long session (1-1) with a GP too. It's a chance to share experiences with fellow survivors, and stops that horrible feeling of isolation and nobody quite understanding what you are going through. I got so much out of this residential course, it has certainly aided my recovery, its was brilliant! The shop at PB is well stocked with supplements etc or you can order online. If you do any online shopping and would like a charity to benefit (it doesn't cost you any extra) you can raise money for your chosen charity by first logging into giveasyoulive.com

thank you for responding to my e-mail. I do plan to attend the Penny Brohn Centre when I'm stronger. But that maybe a few weeks yet. Yes I look forward to sharing experiences with others. In the meanwhile I may look at the shop on line.
