Anybody with confirmed pelvic congestion syndrome. If you get pain after sex how long does it last?

I am asking this off the back of a diagnostic laparoscopy which failed to find any gynecological cause for my unrelenting chronic pelvic pain. Endometriosis has been ruled out and now I'm trying to work out wether this could be my problem. I can experience pain for up to 3 days after sex. Also does anybody with this suffer with increased pain after bowel movements and IBS type issues? Feel free to PM me if you'd feel more comfortable. Hopefully some of you maybe able to help me on my quest for information!

Thankyou 😁

Hi! Have you ever thought of pelvic inflammation disase? You said you had laparoscopy already, no endometriosis found, did they check this PID thing at all? For how long do you have pain, what kind of pain, where exactly, is there any cycle of the pain? Or all day long the same pain every day?

Hi, I have pelvic congestion syndrome.....endo runs in my family and I have pcos, but when I was getting worse and scans didn't show any cysts like I expected, I got a diagnostic lap. She showed me pics after showing that everything looked good and healthy, but despite me never having kids, it looked like I had pelvic congestion syndrome (more common after everything gets stretched out and thinner having kids) because my veins were all swollen and refluxed....my colon I guess also didn't look so great and super inflamed and she was worried and wanted me to see someone about that. Which I was already booked for a endo/colonoscopy for other reasons at least... Those turned out fine except some ulcers and I was positive for SIBO.

My PT after thought the pain was amplified because I've already always been a chronic pelvic pain patient, had scar tissue from surgeries, so my muscles just got so hypertonic. I was sent to her from my urologist since she said I definitely had vaginismus, but my deep muscles were really hypertonic.... So pretty much inserting a tampon or anything felt like I might as well be gutting myself with s knife, but I would have pain for a day or so after. It sounds to me maybe this is more what your problem could be? Muscular? There are soooooo many causes of pelvic pain unfortunately and not great knowledge on the doctor's part...But the pelvic congestion for me was seen in the lap, tho luckily she didn't think it was so bad I should have it embolized... Just being aware and working on the muscles and inflammation instead. The PCS gives you more a really heavy feeling as the day goes on, the longer you are upright, so you feels best when you wake up and progresses through the day, so I try to vary sitting and standing, and when I get home I elevate my legs and pelvis, heat pads etc.

My surgeon was supposedly the lead for my local bsge centre. I'm applying for the proper notes and pictures from my lap as I want to know exactly where they looked and they were a bit evasive. I do remember seeing pictures of my womb and ovaries but nothing else. The heavy feeling I can relate to and I have had three kids. But if I'd had sex the pain would be there all the time for about 3 days and seems to get worse before it gets better. The surgeon was like endo is a horrible disease, it's not something you want and I was thinking yeah but I want an answer and something sorted! Thanks for your replies :) Hopefully I will get it sorted sooner rather than later.

This is what I'm worried about, but think at this point it would be sensible to explore other avenues aswell. Thanks

Have you had a tubal ligation?

No I haven't, had a mirena put in at lap after previously having one for 11 months. Took it out last night as it was causing my womb to contract similarly to early labour. Feel miles better now. Still want answers tho. ;)

I’m glad it’s out. Maybe your body is rejecting it as a foreign body?

Not have sex haha, rarely happens anyway and just told my kind of partner to do one. Don't really get the chance to meet any men so shouldn't be too hard haha. As my mum says there's always condones 😂
