Hi I had a nerve block six weeks ago for PN it numbed me for around two hours, my consultant arranged for me to come back and see her in three weeks and then I had a steroid injection since then I have excruciating pain, I am taking pregablin twice daily 300mg morning and 300mg at bedtime along with 100 mg of amytrip and it’s not helping, she said I was to make a appointment at the desk for three weeks time but the first appointment is the middle of November,I was wanting to know if anybody on here has had this and does it take some time to settle down both injections were done through the vagina and I got gas and air while it was getting done any information would be grateful Thanks in advance

another person on here got a nerve block and had excruciating pain afterwards it's only her third day so I'm checking in with her daily so I honestly don't know but hopefully you both will feel better soon and I will find out tomorrow how she's doing on her fourth day and I will let you know

Similar but different, I'm on my second round of botox injections done vaginally into the pubirectalis muscle for levator-ani syndrome and pelvic floor dysfunction.

Injections are painful but procedure was fairly quick. I have an increase in pain initially for about 3-4wks, for me injections don't eradicate pain but have a definite lessening in intensity.

Was feeling lost in a sea of endless pain and whilst procedure is not a cure it is giving me a short window, (about 2-3mths) where I can tentatively sit on my bottom and allows me with adaptions to meet friends socially and to feel like a "normal" person even if it is only for a couple days/weeks.

I now try to be more positive and focus not on what I can't do but rather how can I adapt my life to do the things I love.

Reading a lot of posts on this forum ,is that many of us have been on a long journey to get the proper meds and treatments that work for us. Involves a lot of strength, stamina and courage!!!!!

Hope you feel better soon and stay strong!!!!

Thanks very much for your reply, I don’t know if you can get a second steroid injection or if it’s just one and if that doesn’t help with this excruciating pain you can get something else, I have had this pain for five years and that’s me just been diagnosed with PN,I am 72yrs and I don’t know all the treatments you can get for this so when I go back and see my consultant I can ask her about other treatments I would really appreciate all the information I can get for this debilitating condition Thanks again for your reply

If you possibly have a true pudendal nerve entrapment in your Alcock’s canal ( where about 25% of PNE are ) or if the rear branch is pinched because it’s stuck to ligaments and fascia and is being pinched when you sit down ( 70% of entrapments ) you’ll need three fluoroscopy or CT- guided pudendal nerve blocks using both anesthetic AND cortisone ( at least 35-60mg ) injected into the nerve root in your buttock. They need to be done successively three months in a row and four weeks apart. If these do not help, the only choice is decompression surgery or life on multiple medications which rarely work.

Hi I get severe burning inside vagina sometimes outside when I sit the pain can get excruciating I can’t stand my underwear touching me, I also have restless genital syndrome, I am taking 300mg of pregabalin morning and bedtime I also take 100mg Amytrip at bedtime and also take co-dydramol four times daily and I use lidocaine if the burning gets really bad but it only gives you short time relief xx
