Hi, back in July i had a hysteroscopy which discovered i have fibroid s also a ovarian cyst, the early hours of the following day i was in A & E with the most excruciating pain in my stomach and my left leg to the point i was unable to lift my leg, i was treated for sepsis, when the gynaecologist came to visit me she explained both my Fallopian tubes where blocked and infected the procedure had disturbed the infection that she thinks had been dormant for years, i was in for 7 days on antibiotics, i was discharged but still had weakness in my left leg and a lot of pain in my lower back and pelvis area, within 10 days i was back in A & E re admitted the infection was back to the point i had to have surgery which was to remove my Tubes and ovaries the surgery was complicated surgeons discovered that my bowel was attached to scar tissue from an previous operation and they surgery was unsuccessfully nothing was removed as the bowel surgeon was unable to get to my Tubes or ovaries, i did manage to have a drain for the cyst, the infection was so bad i was in hospital and on a vast amount of antibiotics for 17 days, the mass of infection is still in my right tube and the gynaecologist has expressed that the surgeons do not want to operate again unless it is an emergency ( the infection returns ) and if this is to happen there is a very high chance i will have to have a colostomy bag, its been 9 weeks since surgery and i'm in consent pain lower back, pelvis, also my left leg is still weak both legs feel heavy affecting my mobility daily, this is also having an effect on my mood's as i'm not physical able to do day to day things because of the pain and weakness this is also causing, i'm on Zapain which is good but then i'm constipated which causes pain as well.

Sounds like you have had an awful time.

I had a hysterectomy aged 26 (severe endometriosis) with ovaries left in. Then I started to grow ovarian cysts, initially surgeons tried to remove cysts (repeated surgeries), got so bad ovaries were finally removed.

Then came the ADHHESIONS!!!

Not long after further surgeries to separate adhesions the pain would always come back and subsequently was gradually losing mobility and sensation in abdominal area.

Reached the point after several years of trying to cope with pain where I dropped down to 7stone and in agony, surgeons advised it was too high a risk of complications (NHS ) and they could not perform any more surgery unless it was an emergency.

Was fortunate to attend a private hospital as by this stage (age 44) was very ill and pain was all consuming. Surgeon had no choice but to tentatively perform a final surgery.

Post up surgeon said I was a mess inside abdominal area, he separated adhesions from there, had pelvic floor repair, appendectomy and separated adhesions from bladder and bowel. Very lucky no complications but took me over a year to recover.

Internal scarring and limited abdominal movement was treated with exercise and antispasmodics and painkillers.

I am now in my fifties and had a total of 14 surgeries all were supposed to eradicate pain and complications of adhesions!!!!

2015 symptoms reappeared and had haemorrhage from colon. I am now coping with dysfunctional bladder and bowel, levator-ani syndrome, adhesions on bladder, bowel abdominal and pelvic area and to top it all a return of endometriosis!!!!!

What I would say is be VERY CAUTIOUS about future surgeries, get as informed from your doctor's about procedures and risks!!!! It would be just awful to think someone else was going through the same as me!!!!

MORE POSITIVELY!!!!!!! I have a fantastic health care team all working together to support me in managing my conditions. I now don't focus on what I can't do but how can I adapt the things I love to do.

I wish you good health and hope you get your problem health sorted. Stay strong!!!
