Kalecolbe12, Are you referring to a TENS unit? I tried one a couple times a few weeks ago and it made me feel so much worse. That stimulation seemed to stir it up, so I’m done with that device.

Oh man, I hope somebody knows, I too wondered this after being signed out of PT. I thought it was one of the more helpful things that I would love to do on my own at home. I have bought and tried a TENS unit since those seemed more popular and well known, but I feel like it helps my back pain but makes my pelvic floor in more pain. So I too really would like an ultrasound device for heating and loosening deeper muscles, my heat patches and hot water bottles aren't quite good enough for that!

Can you tell me how your pt uses the ultrasound for our pelvic floor? My pt doesn't use it and I want to buy one and use it

She used it more often in my early sessions after stretching my legs and hips. She would start it on a lower setting, then turn up and rolled it in circular motions, particularly around sitbones and outer labia. Honestly I didn't think it did much as she was doing it since it barely felt warm to the touch, and she said it would help heat and loosen up tighter deeper muscles, so I felt like it should have been warmer? But I definitely noticed a difference in movement and less pain with the internal work after, versus sessions later on when she felt I wasnt so tight that I super needed it. So it was definitely helping! Now when I cycle into a bad flare, boy do I wish I had an ultrasound thing at home!

Please, if you don't mind, would you let me know if your home one works well for you after awhile, and what you end up getting? I looked online a bit last year but most I saw were even larger looking than the one we used, and for a few thousand, which I don't have to drop. I remember seeing some under 500 I would be more willing to try, if they do work like it's supposed to.....
