Shortage of Lidocaine

Anyone else being told by pharmacies that they are out of Lidocaine due to a manufacturing problem?

Hi eventually got it from USA does anybody know where I can get it in UK that takes delivery orders it is costing a fortune getting from USA

I live in Leeds UK, and my pharmacy can't get hold of it, I've got shingles and it would help with the horrible itching

Hi I can't get lidocaine cream I tried eBay and I got a supplier from Shri Lanca and they are not taking orders either

Yes it does take the edge off but not completely. I am in NZ and can get it from my gp

My UK pharmacy can't get it either

You can buy via amazon uk. Instilagel is produced in germany and over there they have tons. Uk is horrible with imporing medication. Bayer aspirine doesnt exist here

Thank you all for your replies. It's so frustrating. I didn't think about trying online but I wouldn't want another brand in case it was not as effective and Lidocaine didn't come up on amazon.

It's a frustrating situation trying to get hold of medications when they are in short supply - hopefully it will sort itself out soon and it will be available again. We definitely wouldn't recommend purchasing any medication online even if it's topical as there are plenty of people around manufacturing fake supplies of medication. In the best case it simply won't work and you've lost money but in the worst case it could cause skin rashes which may blister or cause burns/scarring.

If your pharmacist is having problems getting hold of medication it might be best for you to ask them to advise on a suitable alternative that your GP can prescribe until it comes back into stock.

I use lidocaine patches for back pain and haven't experienced any problems with getting it so it might be certain prescriptions (cream?) that's the problem.

I also use capsaicin cream which helps with my back pain - it's fantastic and I know when I've missed a dose! This might be an option for some of you? It does sting initially when first used but over a week this subsides. I have been told by another patient that they have used it in the vagina although I'd check this with specialist/GP to see if this is suitable for your condition and if recommended as it maybe an off license prescribing by their doctor.
