Pelvic adhesions, advice needed

13 months of pain resulted in a recent Laparoscopy to release adhesions following hysterectomy 3 years ago. Bowel was stuck to vagina, bladder and peritoneum. In amongst this my ureter had become stuck and I've now got a ureteral stent which is horrible. During the laparoscopy they discovered my Fallopian tube and appendix had become massed together, suspected that I have previously had a burst appendix and both are now covered in adhesions. I'm due for more surgery to have these removed but am worried even more adhesions will reform after the op. I can't have a trial without the ureteral stent until the pelvic inflammation is treated. I am sure this question has been asked over and over again but is there anything I can do post surgery to prevent adhesions reforming, yoga, diet, massage? I'm already beginning to think the adhesions which were released after my last surgery might be on their way back as I am starting to have some bowel discomfort. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This is tricky but movement, physio, dance, heat may help. There's no evidence but common sense tells us these are worth pursuing. Staying hydrated is probably also important. Pretty basic stuff really.

You've probably seen this

Good luck

Thank you for your reply. Yes I've seen that article. Seems your damned if you do and damned if you don't with these things. As soon as I have recovered from this next surgery and had this horrible stent out, I am going to be as active as I can be in the hope that it will prevent them becoming so bad again.

Find a good pelvic floor physio therapist who can help to release any adhessions that can form. I have had a hysterectomy and two surgeries for endometriosis and my physio has always been so helpful. I don't know what I would do without her. Good luck

Thanks krisite66, I've only just worked out how to see the replies on this website! I keep googling to try and find one in my area but no luck. I have just tried Bowen Therapy but don't rate this much and I intend to try acupuncture now. I thought I might write to the Physio dept of my local hospital to see if they could suggest anyone I could see privately. Thanks for you reply.

Find a physical therapist who specializes in releasing adhesions. My physical therapist uses some specialized techniques on the entire abdominal area. She also does internal pelvic floor muscle release. They do keep reforming, but my pain and discomfort is significantly better than it was 2 years ago.

Hi kgconstantine, I don't suppose your Physio is using Myofascial release is she? I'm trying to find out more about this and how it might work for adhesions. I don't suppose you could ask her what technique she uses? It's so hard trying to find a qualified Physio who specializes in this area.

Thanks
