Hi, wonder if anyone can help? I'm 37 and have one child. I have had 2 very early miscarriages this year, but my periods are regular, although seem lighter the last few months. I don't have a history of any problems. Over the last 4/5 months I have noticed getting period like cramping, sore breasts and just a general feeling of something not being right, possibly hormonal? I had an ultrasound done which showed a very small fibroid on the fundus of my uterus and ovaries that looked possibly polycystic (but I have none of the symptoms), and consultant said those findings would not be causing the ongoing pains. I had some blood tests at the start of my cycle, which came back all fine. Doctor said she didn't know what else it could be and said I should see a gynae if it continues. I thought possibly I might not be ovulating properly so had day 21 progesterone bloods taken yesterday. I just rang doc and they said to book a phone consultation on Monday and couldn't say anything else. I am now worried!

The pains are not constant but do come and go all month and I do get ovulation signs....I just don't know. Has anyone had something similar? thanks in advance

It sounds like a hormone problem if they want to see you following this blood test. It could be endometriosis. If so people here have a lot of experience with this and trustworthy information. Let us know how you get on

Thanks for the response. I've been doing some research on ovarian endometriomas and have learnt that ultrasound would be able to differentiate between chocolate cysts and other kinds. Could I rule out this if the consultant did not say they were choc cysts??

Hello,

ultrasound would be able to differentiate between chocolate cysts and other kinds, but not all radiologists can distinguish. I did three ultrasounds with different radiologists and everyone told me I had polycystic ovaries.

the fourth time, I did with a doctor that was accustomed to diagnose endometriosis on ultrasound and she told me that I had endometriomas. I started to have constant pain after my period stop.

If your pain continues, don't accepted the first diagnosis. Search for other doctors.

endometriosis is difficult to diagnose. Only with experts on the subject.

Hi and thanks. Would choc cysts show up regardless of when you scan in cycle? I had a scan around day 6 of mine. Do you know how they tell the difference? Have your periods stopped altogether? Sorry for the questions!

Hello,

sorry for the late response. I believe that choc cysts show up regardless of when you scan in cycle, yes. They are a conglomeration of blood, then yes they will always appear.

in the case of polycystic ovary syndrome may be different

I believe that a conglomeration of blood (a mass) looks different from other cysts in ultrasound.

My periods had stopped with continuous birth control pill. The pain got better because i've stop the menstruation and the size of the cyts has decreased.

For what she can see on ultrasound.
