Hi my son is 8 he too has Pcd and in November last year he caught croup off his little brother. I actually took him to my local hospital as we have open access. They gave him a steroid medicine . It was amazing it worked in about half an hour. He didn't have any more problems with the croup after that.

Hope that helps. Let us know how you get on

So glad your son is on his way to feeling better! One thing to keep in mind about PCD is that it's good to catch things as soon as you can and get a doctor's treatment because it can prevent scarring and permanent lung damage. We learned that the hard way. My husband always wanted to "tough it out" and treat things himself until he couldn't handle it anymore. He always wanted to avoid the doctor and hospital. We didn't know those festering infections could scar the small air passageways and permanently damage them. Over a lifetime (he's now in his 50s), that's a lot of damage. But your son is young and with proactive treatment, lung damage could be kept to a minimum!! The goal is to keep the airways as clean and free of junk and bacteria as possible because the body can't do it itself. Best to you both!

Hopefully he won't need to go into hospital. However if he does at least you know they have caught it fast. Good luck and all the best xx
