Does PBC or Ursodiol cause muscle and or joint pain?

I have been on 2 different generic brands of Urso, since I was diagnosed. I was on the same one for several years and then my insurance changed and I started getting a new generic (different mail order pharmacy). While on the 2nd generic, I was having terrible joint pain and my ALP also started increasing. After a year, my insurance changed again - as did my mail order pharmacy - and I started getting the original generic I had been on, again. Within a month of returning to the original generic, my joint pain was gone and my ALP started going back down. Coincidence? I don't think so. I firmly believe that different generics affect us differently. Some people can tolerate one brand, while others can't. Everyone refers to the "fillers" that a manufacturer uses. Perhaps you should ask your pharmacist if they can try a different manufacturer, the next time you get your Rx filled???

I have been on urso since 2013, both generic and brand name, and have not experienced any issues.

I have had no problems taking Ursodiol. I have arthritis and osteoporosis, so I take other medications for those issues.

I was dx with PBC in 1999 at stage 4 and never had joint or muscle pain but recently have started. In my case it is from arthritis

Maybe you also take Fibrates or Statines, which are often causing musclepain or even muscledamage.
