Hello dedb.

Well just glanced at mine though know the potassium level for me has always resulted normal, wasn't sure about the albumin but on checking, that has been also.

I do know that if you have a higher than normal potassium level, you could be advised to cut down on foods that contain this. My father-in-law who is 81 is having recurrent urinary infections at present and he has higher than high potassium levels. He was informed what not to eat and what he can do to limit intake of potassium.

One of the tips he has been given is to pre-soak peeled potatoes before boiling as they contain potassium. Perhaps you could check on foods that are high in potassium yourself and then maybe start seeing how that is.

I have seen that potassium is added to certain potato crisps (are you in England?) so I expect they'll be a bit of a no-no for the present.

Let us all know how you got on at your recent appt.

Hiya, I was chatting through my blood results the other day with my gastro. He told me that LOW albumn levels can result with Liver damage unless I misunderstood. I thought high albumin could be seen in dehydration etc... I think Potassium can also be high in dehydration I would be interested in what your doctor said?

I was actually low in potassium at the beginning even though I ate banana and potatoes daily. I was on potassium tablets for about a month. All my Lft's were "off the scale", the high albumin one started coming down quicker than the rest when I started the steroids.. They are all still v high but improving. They will sort you out, try not too worry. Let us know how it goes.

when my first set of bloods came back, the doc asked me did I eat a lot of bananas. 'No'I said 'why?'

She said that my potassium level was quite high. I hadn't eaten a banana for months before that vist but I left the health centre with a wee notion for a banana!!!
