The other day I was looking for something on google and it brought up a post i had done on this site. I dont know whether anyone realised (I certainly didnt) that the posts we write could be accessed this way.

Just thought I would mention it.

WOW! Thanks for the info. I had no clue that could happen.

Now that I know this can happen, I'd like to clear something up. If I've ever posted a complaint about my husband, I DIDN'T MEAN IT DEAR!

Actually, thanks for the warning! I thought only the members of this site could read our postings.

I think when you make a post you can select that only members of this community see the post, but you have tp select it. There is a box at the bottom of each post you have to pick to say share with everyone ( which this site recommends I guess to get people who are just searching to come to the site?).

Agree with tumbleweed as I say to the kids once its "out there" its gone from your control forever.............scary thought!

I have seen that but I thought it meant only the people with PBC on here could see it and thought if someone with another condition could see it aswell it might help them. Didnt realise I was broadcasting to the world>

NOTHING is sacred on the World-Wide-Web!

Google your own name and see what happens. It's scary.

Tried my real name and nothing relevant to me came up. But tried zipitydoo (which I use a lot) and thats a different story. :-(

I never paid much attention to the option boxes and always went with the recommended choice that was already checked. I'll change that in future posts.

Thanks busylady and ziptydoo!

I see a leave comment button, but I don't see an option of who gets to see this post. I hope you all have a day filled with miracles.

healthangel, first go to the Ask a Question tab at the top then you'll find Who Can See This Question? at the bottom next to the submit botton. I think it's a bit confusiing because you are looking in the Leave a Comment section.

I like your ID!

I think that if the originator of the question marked the members only then we are fairly safe but if they didn't, then I don't see where we can mark out replies.

its an important lesson....

Very few of us read instructions. We all tick terms and condition boxes but how many of us read the T's & C's? Indeed I always make sure only members of this forum see posts, and I try to remain fairly anonymous on here.

It is sad that even though you keep posts in a forum, any forum, even if a search engine can not access it to post into a search engine, it doesnt stop any other member taking your post and copying it anywhre else.

I learnt the hard way once before in facebook and via email... nevr share stuff you arent totally happy to lose control of if you can be identified because once its written its written! Even people you think are close to you, might not always be your friends... sad world sometimes. :(

Speak for yourself, darlin'. -:) Not everyone is a liar.

Have a blessed day. -:)

If you tick the members only to see your posting it won't be on Google.
