Lingering Covid vaccine side-effects

Hi there!

I wondered if anyone else with PBC has suffered from long-lasting side effects after their first Covid jab?

I had my first jab four weeks ago (Astra Zeneca), and I was pretty wiped out by it. My fatigue was more debilitating than normal (this is usually my worst PBC symptom anyway), and I felt some cold/flu symptoms and a really painful arm.

It's now a month later, and if anything my arm is more painful than ever. The fatigue is still worse than my usual baseline. and I still feel like I'm battling a viral infection. I haven't heard of other people reporting these kinds of symptoms for more than a few days, although my GP says she is getting a few people reporting more side effects after a longer time.

Is anyone else experiencing the same thing? I have to say...I am not looking forward to my second jab very much!

I see no one has answered and sorry I can’t really help with side effects but I hope you feel better soon.

I was lucky I never had any much to speak of. I also had the Pfizer jab and due the second one soon so fingers crossed. I’am sure if there were anything to worry about your GP would have said and taken any necessary action.

It might be a good idea to report the effects your having and how long it’s lasting, to the yellow card scheme. Then if others suffer and report the same issues, it gets flagged up.

Especially having PBC, as I would guess no one on the trials had PBC. Its the reliable way of reporting that monitors how different people can /may react.

Hi AM2016.

I got my 1st AstraZeneca 8wks ago and I am due my 2nd in 2wks time (which I'm not looking forward too, but will still get).

I suffered a sore head for 2dys and then 4dys after vaccine my arm felt heavy with a dull pain. I still get the occasional time when this heaviness and dull ache occurs. As for the fatigue, I'm backing to napping during the day!

I since have heard it referred to as "Covid Arm".

Also I did report it to the yellow card scheme.

Hope you get some relief soon. Take care.

Hi.

Yes, I’m the same as you!

How are you feeling now?

I had my vaccine 3 weeks ago and my arm is still sore. Not as achy as the first few days but I still can’t lie on it at night.

I felt very under the weather for around a week, flu-yand it affected my sleep and energy.

Similarly to you I feel okay but still not100%, though not as bad as when I first had it.

Not looking forward to the second one much either!

It was a relief to read this, as most people I know have either been completely fine or just had an achy arm and felt ill for a day or so.

I wonder if PBC / autoimmune conditions can sometimes make it more difficult for the body to process what’s in the vaccines. I’m the same with getting symptoms from certain meds and previously with the flu jab.

I’ll do the same as suggested and fill in the yellow card scheme about side effects.

Take care everyone x
