Blood test due - but missed dose of URSO

I'm so annoyed at myself....

I am due to go to the hospital today for a blood test ahead of my hepatologist appointment next week. Yesterday was my birthday and I was taken out for a lovely day ... but in all the excitement when I got home, I completely forgot to take my URSO :-(

Is that likely to have an effect on my blood results?

I doubt one dose will make a difference to your results URSO is said to have a long half life which means it will still be in your system and the test is so close to when you missed the dose.

But missing doses, is not a good thing overall, I just bought one of those daily pill wallets to put them in, now I just got to remember to look at it "...... my brain forgets, but at least I can see if I’ve missed any on any given day.

Happy birthday, glad you had a lovely day.

Candy12 gives you good re-assurance. Many happy returns of yesterday (without the 'forgetting urso' bit). Would it suit you to let your phone remind you to take Urso? Best wishes for news of 'better numbers' next week!

From my own experience I would say highly unlikely, as urso I think has a gradual affect on levels... Might be wrong but it is a long term affect rather than bodys quick up and down reaction to tabs... Its the overall trend they watch so it will be taken into account as a gradual incline or decline... Really wouldn't worry about it...

It may have an immediate affect on your stomach but one dose I think it's unlikely to affect blood levels...

Please don't worry about it,best cazer

Thank you for your replies. I have started using a daily pill box and carry it around with me (also have some spare tablets at my office and in my car) - as I was finding myself doubting whether I had taken it or not! This has helped me enormously ... but yesterday was a bit of a one-off!!

I would just hate for it to skew my numbers as this will be my first follow-up hepatologist appointment.

Thanks!

I agree with all your replies. However, I would add one cautionary note...never leave pills in your car as the temp changes can destroy their viability. This is even true for sunscreen, and for water bottles which can leach plastic. In your purse is fine as long as no young children or pets can get into them. Happy belated birthday and wishing you the best!

OMG!!! I did the same thing. Intercept delivered my Ocaliva to my office. When I went home I put my pkg in passenger seat. Somehow it fell between seat and door. Didn’t discover it until Friday afternoon after it sat in my car all day Friday. I called Intercept support services and talked to 3 or 4 people. They finally said it was my decision to take or not. I told them I didn’t feel safe taking it. They were going to have an answer as what to do and I’ve not heard one word. I’m due to start new bottle in about 4 days. I’m at a loss. It’s been 99 degrees here. Can only imagine what temp was inside my car.

Good luck for your appointment. Ask for a copy of your blood test results it helps draw a picture over the years to come.

Glad you enjoyed your special day

All your replies are spot on I often forget to take my medication as I have so many tablets to take, in fact I have two statins left over from yesterday that I forgot to take. The only thing left for me to add is Happy Birthday for yesterday. Don’t worry be happy

It's all been said 😊 Happy Birthday x

Hi All - I am so glad to have found you all. I was just diagnosed 3 weeks ago with Overlap Syndrome (pbc & aih) and going for my first blood test tomorrow. Hoping Orso, Imuran and prednisone is working...🙏

I was so overwhelmed for the first week and distraught about the future but after soul searching and coming to the realization this is beyond my control, I've decided to accept it and take charge of protecting my fragile liver. I have completely changed my diet to eating healthy (fruits, vegetables and different proteins (bone broth protein powder shakes etc), reducing salt and sugar no alcohol (sadly will miss an occasional glass of Reisling when socializing) and exercising at least 10 min a day. There's not much else to do but be kind to my body. I'm hoping it does the trick.

Also, I am using the Medisafe app on my phone which keeps track of every dose I've taken and sends reminders via sounds (my phone makes a sound of pills shaking in a bottle) at the times I set. It's funny to hear the sound coming from my phone when people are around lol. But it definitely helps to remember! I also read a recommendation on here to start a file binder of test results, Dr notes etc so I will be staring that as well.

Wishing good positive vibes to everyone and be well!
