Itching

Hi everyone, Just had my follow up appointment with my consultant after my liver biopsy confirmed PBC. I mentioned that the “itch” is driving me insane. She advised to try Piriton with sedative at night. Has anyone else tried and tested this? Or anything else that could help before I have no skin left on my body. 🙂

They seem to try antihistamines first. Mine started me with 2 cetirizine twice a day. The next suggestion was cholestyramine AKA Questran light when that did not help Naltrexone was added but I reacted badly to that so Rifampicin was prescribed followed by sertraline. I now have some peace but always use a 2 percent menthol derma cream where I itch as well. If the Piriton does not work ask your specialist for alternatives. There is a very good article written by Prof. Neuburger in the Bear Facts magazine of Spring 2015 and also information on the new PBC app.

ButterflyEi, thank you I’ll try this first and see how it goes. I’ll check on the article you mentioned too. This is all double Dutch just now. I feel like Alice in Wonderland x Jane
