Is it alright to take all three of my ursodiol at once? If so, when is the best time of day?

Your script should have directions. When I took it, it said 1 - 2x day. I spaced mine & with meals. You should ask your pharmacist or dr.

My prescription says take 2x a day with food. I asked my hepatologist if I forget to take it in the morning if I can just double up at night. He told me no, take it at lunch time to catch up.

Prescribed to take 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening but I take all 4 at night. Works best for me and when I told my doctor, he said it was fine since lab work shows it is working!

At my last Conultant appointment I was told that, as I had been on Urso for more than 3 months, I could take my full daily prescription at bedtime. So much more convenient.

I taken 3 at the same time. Doctor said it didn't matter what time of day so whatever suits you.

My prescription says 3 twice a day but I read an article at least a couple of years ago now saying that the best time to take them is before bed. I’ve been taking 6 before bedtime ever since. My consultant is so happy with my blood results etc, I now only need to see him once a year. I’m sure it was Dr Jones from Newcastle who wrote the article and I believe he is the expert on PBC in the UK. This works for me and it’s so much easier than trying to remember to take them during the day. 🙂

I also take my urso at night. Can you tell me the name of the article you read? I would like to read it. Thank you

Hi, I can’t remember the name of the article, it was so long ago, however my consultant said he didn’t care when I took the Urso as long as I kept taking it 😂 I find it easier than trying to remember to take it 3 times a day.

Hi evening, this link tells you a bit about Professor Jones who wrote the article I referred to. He’s the expert in PBC research. It might give you a starting point to find the article.

I find if I take mine in one go I vomit (too much acid in my stomach) so I take 2 at breakfast and 2 at lunch.

I was told by my doctor I could take all 3 (300mg) at the same time but he said I could also take one with each meal which I prefer.

I take 1000 mg in am and 1000 mg in pm. It doesn’t matter if you take them together but they are sooooo big. I

Very interesting I was told that if I take any more than 1200 or 1500 mg a day it really isn’t helpful. If I could take more and get my test even better that would be great. Just curious what others have heard. Thank you

I`m a 3 x250 after breakfast and have been for 17 years. My consultant said it didn`t matter when I took them but always after food. It seems that it is trial and error to find out which is the best way for you.

I would ask your doctor to be sure. I take two in the morning and one at night.

I take my 3 together after breakfast and it works fine for me 😃

I take one 250 mg three times a day with food. My liver function tests were normal so I assume the ursofalk is working. It does say on the information slip that after three months if the drugs are working they can be taken altogether in the evening. I have always continued with one , three x a day

I take 750mg at 5am and 5pm and my cholestyramine at 9am and 9pm as directed by my Pharmacist. It should say on the medication bottle what your dosage should be and what time of day to take them. Hope this helps😁

My Hep told me to go ahead and take all three 300 mg capsules at once.

I take them right after breakfast.
