Antibiotics

I have just been written a prescription for Minocycline an antibiotic for a skin infection. I’m worried about taking it due to the affect it will have on my already damaged liver due to the PBC.

Anyone taken this antibiotic before and if so any problems?

Would appreciate any input.

Thank you!

You should call your GI or Hepatologist & ask them. That is the best way to get an accurate assessment. I think it might be different depending on each individual's progression of the condition & no one can evaluate this better than an expert who is taking care of you. Just my 2 cents. I never take anything, be it prescription meds, OTC meds or vitamins/supplements without getting my doctor's input.

My cardiologist actually discussed statins with my Hepatologist to get his approval before I went back on it.

Your Health Professional should be checking it's safe before prescribing it to you. X
