Hello I was diagnosed in March after my Dr noticed anomoli in routine blood test. He compared result with another test over 5 years ago and that was same but no one noticed at the time. I am now being treated with urso and am patient at QE Hospital . I know this is long list but i dont know what is notmal range and what stage of PBC this means im 'at' - i am scared because i seem to be having odd twinges and aches and pains and memory is hopeless (although dome days better than others) Last blood test results:

AST 40

ALT 37

BILI 6

ALP 293

GGT 214

ALB 50

GLUC 5.30

Ca 2.56

Does anyone have similar and able to advise?

Bless you all on this site - I'm constantly reading posts to try to get handle on this insidious disease and internet searches just scare me to death!

Hi tomollie

Your alp and ggt are a bit high but if these bloods were taken a while back they may be lower now after taking uso for a bit. Your results look very similar to mine before I started the clinical trial I am currently on.

Hi Thank you for replying kimphoebe. Do you know what the normal range is for GGT - actually what is GGT?

Gamma glutamyl transpetelidase shows how much damage in the liver. But don't panic over it cause mine was 1300 when first dx and now within normal range after taking uso

Hi Tomollie.

Have you had a fibroscan or biopsy? Unfortunately you can’t tell what stage or whether there is any progression through blood work alone. Also symptoms can vary at any stage so doesn’t necessarily mean that there is any progression. Aches and pain and a bit of brain fog seems to be quite common even at the early stages. Also useful to remember that not everything is because of pbc if there’s anything unusual then worth checking with go.

Best wishes

If your doing random internet searches that is never a good thing I did that when I was diagnosed it's not a good idea a lot of what you will read is out of date.

Have you joined the pbc foundation it's separate from this forum There is a link at the top of the page. Once you join you will have access to the members area that is full of up to date information and access to the bear facts magazine it's free to join.
